River levels remain high at the Hooke river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland remains. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Toller Whelme and Dorchester Today, Friday 06/03/20 is forecast to be dry but further rain is forecast over the weekend with Sunday and Monday seeing heavier rainfall. This will maintain the current high river levels and we could see levels rise further in response to the rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. River levels have risen at the Hooke river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible between 10:30 and 20:30 today, 05/03/20. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for tributaries between Toller Whelme and Dorchester Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until 20:30 on 05/03/20. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are clearing weed screens and in contact with community flood wardens and volunteers. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. Further showery rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours, with more heavy rainfall forecast for thursday 20/02/20. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the River Hooke between Hooke and Frome Vauchurch and the Chilfrome between Cattistock and Maiden Newton and on down to Dorchester. Storm Dennis is forecast to bring heavy rainfall over the weekend and river levels are expected to rise further in response to this rainfall. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. There is a general risk of surface water flooding due to potential blockage of drains from leaf litter combining with heavy rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation.
