River levels continue to remain high at the Broadwey river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated and high groundwater levels adding to river flow. The situation is improving, however, we expect river levels to remain high for some time, and the risk of flooding along the River Wey valley continues. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded, and avoid using footpaths near floodwater. The Met Office forecast until Friday is for the current spell of dry and settled weather to continue. This message will be updated on Friday 27/03/20, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen at the Broadwey river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the River Wey to Radipole Lake, Preston Brook and River Jordan. River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall. Whilst we do not expect property flooding at this time, flash flooding of fast responding rivers such as the Wey, Jordan and Preston Brook could cause problems to nearby roads and some campsites. The public are advised to stay clear of these rivers where levels may respond very quickly to rainfall which has fallen upstream of their location. A further band of heavy rain is expected on Thursday afternoon, lasting into the evening.
