Sea spray overtopping is forecast along the coast as a result of high tides and strong, Force 6-7 winds. Consequently, flooding is possible until Friday afternoon. High tides are at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) and at 10:45 on Friday. Flooding of properties around Poole Harbour is not forecast at this point. Continuing strong winds may cause additional wave overtopping throughout the day on Friday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closing tide gates along the coast and liaising with emergency services. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads. Camping on beaches and on exposed areas of coastline will be extremely hazardous under these conditions. This message will be updated on Friday or as the situation changes.

High tide levels may prevent rivers from flowing to the sea and cause rivers to rise. Forecast high water is 21:30 on Sunday, 08/03/20 with a level of 1.28 mAOD and a Force 5 Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Wareham. mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Due to an unusual tidal surge we believe there is a possibility of flooding for Poole Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Frome and River Piddle. Today's tide was higher than predicted and we believe that a similar situation could occur for tonight's tide and tomorrow morning. The exact time of peak water is difficult to predict, but we are expecting it to be around 2030 tonight and 0900 tomorrow morning. High water levels are expected two hours either side of these times. We are closely monitoring the situation.

The time and date of the first forecast high water is 23:15 on Saturday 31/08/2019. The forecast tide level is 1.14 m AOD. The time and date of the second forecast high water is 12:00 on Sunday 01/09/2019. The forecast tide level is 1.22 m AOD. Please note all tide times are in local time and are using the 24 hour clock, and refer to the high water time at TIDAL GAUGE. Flooding to roads, footpaths and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply - two to four hours, either side of the high tide. Our staff are closely monitoring the situation with the high tides although the situation is expected to ease after 12:00 Sunday 01/09/2019.
