River Parrett, River Yeo, Cary, Sowy, Kings Sedgemoor Drain
River levels in the Yeo, Parrett and Sowy remain high, together with levels in the Huish Episcopi Pumping Station Drain and Westover Pumping Station Drain. Consequently the risk of flooding of roads, paths and farmland remains. We expect flooding to affect the following roads: the Ilchester to Yeovilton road at the end of the runway, the Mudford to Limington road and the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate. Properties at Westover Trading Estate at Langport are at risk. Our incident response staff continue to check operational assets, floodbanks and spillways, and we are pumping at Huish Episcopi and Westover, to clear water from the moors. The Sowy relief channel is running to relieve pressure on the Parrett, which will allow pumping stations further downstream to operate. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan your routes to avoid low lying roads and paths near rivers which may be flooded and refer to the local authority website for local road closures. This message will be updated on Sunday, 22/01/2023.
