River levels have risen following overnight rain. They are expected to remain high on Saturday and this may lead to flooding.
Property flooding is not expected, however flooding of roads and low lying land is possible. Areas most at risk include roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur.
Saturday is forecast to be predominantly dry, before a further band of rain arrives on Sunday morning. We are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels, and staff have been clearing debris from weed screens and checking rivers for blockages.

Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible as rivers react to the rain which is forecast between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM tonight. Property flooding is not expected.
Areas most at risk include roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur.

The river levels on the River Isle at Donyatt and Ashford Mill have also risen again but currently remain below levels of concern. Further rainfall in the form of showers is expected for the rest of today and tomorrow and we expect river levels to remain high during this time.

Several river levels have risen above Flood Alert threshold as a result of the overnight heavy rain brought by Storm Bella.
Areas most at risk are roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur.
Given that the heaviest rain has mainly passed through, river levels are expected to peak over the next few hours; although scattered showers will continue.
Our incident response staff have been out clearing weed screens in the daytime and we are closely monitoring the situation.
Please plan driving or walking routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures.

The River Parrett at Chiselborough and the River Isle at Donyatt and at Ashford Mill have all peaked at around 08:00 this Saturday morning. However, the levels remain high and above the flood alert threshold and the risk of flooding of roads and fields will continue during Saturday. Further isolated showers are forecast for today and Sunday but rainfall totals will be less than Friday and we expect river levels to continue to fall. Areas most at risk are roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur.

The River Parrett at Chiselborough and the River Isle at Donyatt and at Ashford Mill are continuing to rise following this period of wet and windy weather and there is a risk of flooding of roads and fields during Friday afternoon and overnight into Saturday. Slightly drier weather is forecast for Saturday and Sunday before heavier rain is forecast to return on Monday. Areas most at risk are roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur. All rivers are expected to remain high into Saturday before receding.

The lower River Parrett is forecast to be bankfull and overtopping could occur. Further showery rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. River Parrett levels at Chiselborough have peaked and are now falling, but remain above the Flood Alert threshold and there continues to be a risk of road and field flooding. However, levels on the River Isle at Donyatt and Ashford Mill have peaked and now fallen away to low levels. Mainly dry weather is forecast for tonight and into Friday. We hope that falling river levels will allow this flood alert to be removed on Friday morning. It is still advised to plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and to check with the local authority website for local road closures. The level at Chiselborough appears to have now peaked, however the river level at Gawbridge is still rising and levels across the catchment remain high. Catchments are saturated and rivers are responding to yesterday's rain, and the current rainfall. River levels remain high at the Chiselborough river gauge and the risk of flooding continues. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. This will be closely followed by Storm Dennis on Saturday morning, bringing widespread heavy rain through Saturday, into Sunday. Consequently the river levels are forecast to rise again tonight into the early hours of Saturday. This will bring a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads overnight into tomorrow. This includes roads at Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356, the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges.
