Flood Alert issued on 19 Dec 2018 13:18
River Parrett, River Isle
This flood alert is likely to remain in place for some time as a result of the high river levels on the River Parrett between South Perrott and Thorney. This is due to the significant rainfall yesterday in the upper catchments. Levels peaked around 23:00 last night and are falling steadily however, there remains a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads in this area until levels return to normal. Forecast showers during the next few days could slow down the return to normal winter flow levels however, significant impacts are not expected. We have teams actively checking the operation of rivers, debris screens, culverts, bridges and sluices. We will continue to monitor the rainfall forecasts closely and will update this message again tomorrow, Thursday 20/12/2018 unless there is significant change to the local flood risk.
