River levels have been rising at the Ramshaw river gauge since mid-afternoon as a result of melting snow and are expected to peak at around 8pm. Consequently, flooding possible into this evening, (Monday 24th February). Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads. The main area of concern is Ramshaw. We do not currently expect to issue flood warnings but we are closely monitoring river levels and will take action if required. This message will be updated by 10am tomorrow morning, Tuesday 25th February, or as the situation changes.

River levels on the River Gaunless remain high as a result of heavy rainfall and snow melt. No further heavy rainfall is forecast over the weekend so we expect river levels to fall throughout the day (16/02/2020). Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation, Spring Gardens Dam is operating and our incident response staff are checking defences. River levels have risen on the River Gaunless as a result of heavy rainfall and snow melt. Consequently, rivers will be high throughout Saturday evening, 15/02/2020, and into Sunday. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the weekend. We expect river levels to remain high over this period. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. River levels are still rising at the Ramshaw river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall caused by Storm Ciara. Rain is expected to move out of the area by 12:00 today, 09/02/2020. However, low responding rivers may continue to rise into this evening. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths, low lying land and roads. We are closely monitoring the situation and will issue any flood warnings as needed. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. River levels are forecast to rise at the Ramshaw river gauge as a result of Storm Ciara. Consequently River Gaunless levels will rise relatively rapidly through Saturday night, 08/02/20 into Sunday morning, 09/02/20. Flooding of properties/roads and farmland is possible. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths, low lying land and roads. Further heavy rainfall is forecast through Saturday night and Sunday, rain will be particularly heavy over high ground in the Pennines and the Cheviots. We are closely monitoring the situation and issue any flood warnings as needed. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This alert has been issued early during waking hours based on the current forecast. River levels are forecast to rise at the Ramshaw Mill and Oakley Cross Beck river gauges as a result of late evening (Thursday 03/10/2019) and overnight rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from midnight Thursday evening (03/10/2019) through into Friday morning, 04/10/2019. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads. The river levels will remain high into Friday morning (04/10/2019). At this time we do not anticipate flood warnings will be necessary but we are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing trash screens. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected through into Wednesday morning, 02/10/2019. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads by Ramshaw and West Auckland Oakley Cross Beck. River levels will remain high into Wednesday. River levels have risen at the West Auckland Oakley Cross river gauge as a result of persistent heavy overnight rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected from this morning through to the afternoon, 01/10/19. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads by Ramshaw and West Auckland Oakley Cross Beck. Rain will ease by midday and we expect the river levels to peak this morning. Over the last few hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the County Durham area. This has meant that the River Gaunless is now rising and will peak through the night. Levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river this evening and into tomorrow morning (Thursday 5th April). We will continue to monitor the situation but no flooding to properties is currently forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued. Spring Gardens Dam is operational, reducing flood risk to downstream areas. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Over Monday night we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Gaunless area. A combination of this and melting snow is causing rivers to rise. The main area of concern is Oakley Cross Beck, where levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river from 6am (Tuesday 6th March 2018) and throughout Tuesday morning. We expect the river to remain high throughout today. The Oakley Cross Beck is being monitored, please be aware of the potential for flood warnings in this area. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Avoid walking or driving along riverside roads and footpaths. We are monitoring river levels closely and our operational teams are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages from rivers.
