Scattered showers are forecast Wednesday evening, with very little rain over the rest of the week. The river is unlikely to begin to fall until 22:00 09/10/2024, at the earliest. The river might not return nearer to a normal level until Friday 11/10/2024. River levels are expected to peak higher than they have in recent weeks. From 21:00 06/11/2022 flooding will affect fields, rural roads, gardens, and properties including The Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel, and properties near North Street, Willows Car Park and River Lane, Alfriston. Access along Litlington Road may be restricted by flood water. Most of the rain has now cleared to the east, but isolated showers are possible Sunday evening, continuing Monday and Tuesday. The river should begin to fall by 08:00 07/11/2022, but will be higher than normal until Wednesday. River levels could end up similar to, or slightly higher than Friday. Flood water can be deep and dangerous, please take care if walking near the river in Alfriston. Please plan to avoid driving on routes vulnerable to flooding, including North Street, Alfriston. Friday evening should remain dry and only a small amount of rain is forecast for Saturday. However, 25mm of rain forecast for Sunday could cause some further flooding. The Cuckmere River is high and rising. 50mm of rain has been measured at Vines Cross on Thursday. This is a lot in a short period of time, more than we'd normally expect over two weeks. From 01:00 04/11/2022 flooding will affect fields, rural roads, gardens, and properties including The Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel, and properties near North Street, Willows Car Park and River Lane, Alfriston. There is uncertainty in the weather forecast. Although there have been showers Thursday evening, the Cuckmere should begin to fall in Alfriston by 04:00 Friday 04/11/2022, but not returning to normal until the weekend. Rainfall totals will be less than Storm Bella but the rain will cause the river to rise again this afternoon and evening (28/12/2020) and tomorrow morning (29/12/2020). Additional flooding of properties is not expected today, unless rain is heavier than predicted. A dry Tuesday should allow flood impacts to ease. Access along Litlington Road could be restricted by flood water. The rain should clear by 09:00, leaving a largely dry Sunday. However, river levels will continue to rise higher, through Sunday afternoon, following the contribution from the Bull River upstream. The river might not begin to fall until Monday morning. More rain is forecast Monday morning, which could extend the duration of flood impacts, or possibly increase flood depths. The Cuckmere River is high and rising, following 40mm of rain in the last 24 hours, an amount you'd normally see in an average fortnight. From 14:30 Friday 4/12/2020 flooding will affect fields, rural roads (including North Street), and properties including those near to Willows Car Park, River Lane, The Old Clergy House and Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston. Rain has now cleared East Sussex, leaving a largely dry day Friday. However, the river is unlikely to begin falling until 20:00 this evening, 4/12/2020. Water levels could approach the height seen on the 15th November. With low pressure never far away, further rain is possible Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which could see the risk of flooding extended or return. Locations upstream are returning to near normal levels, but river levels at Alfriston are expected to remain high and may not return to normal until Tuesday evening (17/11/2020). Also, the period around high tide (00:00 to 04:00 17/11/2020) could see river levels at Alfriston held high, until the tide drops. Flooding remains probable between the Cuckmere River, and North Street and the High Street, including the Willows car park, Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel and River Lane. More rain is predicted Sunday morning and Monday afternoon 9/3/2020. The risk of flooding will increase again, dependant on the amount of rain we receive. The Cuckmere River has been rising steadily in response to 26mm of rainfall today. River levels will continue to rise, possibly reaching levels higher than during Storm Dennis. Flooding is expected from 03:00 Friday 06/03/2020. Flooding is expected to affect Willows car park, River Lane, North Street, Old Clergy House and Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston, including gardens, rural roads and extensively through nearby fields. Thursday evening and Friday should be relatively dry but river levels are not expected to begin to fall until 21:00 on Friday 06/03/2020 and are not likely to return to more normal levels until Sunday 08/03/2020. From midnight (00:00 Monday morning) 17/02/2020 isolated flooding impacts are expected to affect fields, rural roads and gardens. This includes, but is not limited to, land in Alfriston between the Cuckmere River, and North Street and the High Street, including the Willows car park, Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel and River Lane. Rain is expected tomorrow 17/02/2020 but is not expected to increase water levels further. The river will peak by 06:00 tomorrow morning (17/02/2020), returning to normal by the end of the week.
