Friday’s tides at 01:30 and 13:45 13/3/2020 will be at least 20cm lower than experienced on Wednesday and Thursday. With wave heights increasing from Thursday night however, minor flood impacts may remain similar to recent days. The strong Force 7 Westerly winds will increase tide table values by 0.1m. The total forecast tide is 7.27 metres Chart Datum (3.75 mAOD) at Newhaven. For 2 hours either side of high water, strong winds and large waves will generate a small amount of spray overtopping which will affect footpaths and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. From Saturday 14/3/2020, we should see smaller wave heights, lower tides and only minimal risk of flooding. At low tide we will check to maintain the condition of the shingle beach which helps to protect the town from flooding. Avoid walking and driving along Seaford Sea Front at high tide. Spray and water will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. We will remove this message by 19:00 on 13/03/2020.
