The weather increases tide table values by 0.17 m. The total forecast tide is 7.31 metres Chart Datum (3.79 mAOD) at Newhaven. Approximately 40cm lower than Monday night. For 2 hours either side of high water, strong winds and large waves will generate a small amount of spray overtopping which will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Wednesday's afternoon tide at 13:00 on 10/04/2024 is forecast to be a little higher (3.85 mAOD), although wave heights should reduce. Minor flood impacts could again be possible. Flood impacts should reduce from Thursday 11/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. At low tide we will check and work to maintain the condition of the shingle beach. Monday evening's tide at 23:45 on 08/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.66 m. The total forecast tide is 7.71 metres Chart Datum (4.19 mAOD) at Newhaven. The tide will be one of the highest in recent years. For 2 hours either side of high water, wave overtopping will affect footpaths, car parks and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade, including near the Martello Tower, Salts Recreation Ground and Buckle Caravan Park. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.69 mAOD), so flood risk should be lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. At low tide we will check and work to maintain the condition of the beach which helps to protect the town from flooding. Avoid Seaford Sea Front at high tide. The weather increases tide table values by 0.25 m. The total forecast tide is 6.31 metres Chart Datum (2.79 mAOD) at Newhaven. For 2 hours either side of high water, a small amount of spray overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Wave heights and volume of spray overtopping will reduce by Monday afternoon although small amounts of spray could remain each high tide through to Thursday 04/01/2024. The weather increases tide table values by 0.29 m. The total forecast tide is 6.28 metres Chart Datum (2.76 mAOD) at Newhaven. For 2 hours either side of high water, a small amount of spray overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Similar conditions, but with slightly smaller waves are expected in the early hours of Sunday too. Very large waves will continue throughout Sunday, before reducing Monday afternoon. Similar minor flood impacts including spray affecting the esplanade will occur over high water in the early hours of Monday 01/01/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. The weather increases tide table values by 0.42 m. The total forecast tide is 7.10 metres Chart Datum (3.58 mAOD) at Newhaven. That is 30cm bigger than midday Sunday, and with larger waves. For 2 hours either side of high water, a small amount of spray overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Esplanade and Marine Parade. Water could flow along Marine Parade past the sailing club and Buckle Caravan Park. Conditions and flood impacts are forecast to be very similar during Monday afternoon's tide, before improving Tuesday 22/02/2022. We continue to monitor the forecast. Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves increase tide table values by 0.56 m. The total forecast tide is 7.25 metres Chart Datum (3.73 mAOD) at Newhaven. For 2 hours either side of high water, strong winds and large waves will generate a small amount of spray overtopping which will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. After Saturday, the next highest tide is forecast to be 20cm lower, on Monday afternoon. For 2 hours either side of high water, a small amount of spray overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. Saturday’s midday tide could see a return of minor flood impacts, when tide levels could be similar to midday Friday. We continue to monitor the forecast. On Sunday evening the weather increases tide table values by 0.13 m and the total forecast tide will be 7.2 metres Chart Datum (3.68 mAOD) at Newhaven. For two hours either side of high water, a small amount of spray overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front parking and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Monday morning's tide level will be almost identical, but with smaller waves. From Monday afternoon (16/11/2020), the tide levels and wave heights will begin to fall. The total forecast tide is 7.53 metres Chart Datum (4.01 mAOD) at Newhaven. The tide will be one of the highest recorded in recent years. Wave overtopping will affect footpaths, sea front car parks and the road at Marine Parade and the Esplanade, including near the Martello Tower, Salts Recreation Ground and Buckle Caravan Park. High tides, large waves and the risk of flooding will remain similar until Thursday 13/02/2020. We continue to monitor the forecast. Very strong winds and large waves are expected from 08:00 on Sunday 9/2/2020 as Storm Ciara passes across the South East.
