Any impacts should be minimal and localised but we are not expecting any flooding to properties. The forecast for Friday afternoon remains a little unsettled, but it is possible a Flood Alert may be reissued. Strong winds and large waves shall return for lunchtime’s tide Thursday 4 Jan 2018, but less stormy than Wednesday. Tide levels are expected to be only 20 centimetres higher than Wednesday so similar impacts are expected. Localised spray overtopping may affect Marine Parade and the Esplanade. Impacts should be less than today, but localised spray overtopping may affect Marine Parade and the Esplanade. A Flood Alert will remain in force for Thursday 4 Jan with a comparable tide to Wednesday. Tides do not fall significantly until the weekend, but with wind and waves easing the overall flood risk should reduce. Take care if visiting the coast. At high tide, localised impacts of spray overtopping may affect Marine Parade and the Esplanade. The wind and waves will make conditions dangerous. Care should be taken by those living on or visiting the coast. We are monitoring conditions and are ready to respond to any flooding. The flood alert for coastal areas of Seaford sea front remains in force for the high tide at 01:00hrs Sunday morning 22/10/2017. Although the wind strength and tide levels are reducing, the shingle beaches have been depleted which means a small risk remains for spray overtopping and minor flooding over the peak of the high tide.

This message is issued for the high tide Saturday lunchtime 21 October 2017, when strong winds, large waves and a higher than average tide are forecast to coincide. Around high tide, spray overtopping and small amounts of water could affect Marine Parade and the Esplanade, Seaford. The wind and waves could make conditions dangerous, care should be taken if visiting the coast. Our staff have been maintaining Seaford beach in advance and we have resource available to respond, following the event. The following tides on Sunday and Monday are expected to be of much lower magnitude and should not pose further flood risk. We expect to remove this message by 11:00 Sunday 22 October 2017.
