River levels through Buxted, Uckfield and Isfield have now peaked and are falling following 15mm of rain Wednesday night. Minor flood impacts affecting fields, gardens and rural roads is still possible around Isfield Mill and Isfield Bridge, but should gradually lessen during Thursday 19/12/2019. However, spells of heavy rain are forecast for Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. Rises in river levels should be expected into Friday (20/12/2019) and also over the weekend too. Flooding to properties could be possible. Please plan to install flood protection products this evening (Thursday 19/12/2019) in advance of the rain. The River Uck is forecast to rise in response to a predicted 20mm of rain tonight. Similar, or potentially higher, river levels than last Thursday could be seen. Flooding is possible in Buxted from 01:00 (19/12/2019). Impacts are expected to affect fields, rural roads and gardens of riverside properties through Buxted, near the White Hart pub, and areas around Hempstead Mill. From 06:00 19/12/2019 water is likely to affect gardens of properties around Isfield Mill and Isfield Bridge. Some impacts could affect the Roller Mill, Mill Lane, and Bridge Cottage in Uckfield. The river should initially peak by 10:00 through Buxted, later elsewhere, but further periods of rain are forecast until the weekend which could cause river levels to rise again. River levels have returned to normal in Buxted, Uckfield and Isfield, following 20mm of rain Monday night. Only very minimal flood impacts are currently expected. Wednesday 18/12/2019 should stay mostly dry. However, heavy rain may return Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday. Details of location and amounts of rain are still uncertain. It is possible the communities on the Uck could remain dry until 04:00 Thursday 19/12/2019. But if the rain appears further flooding is still possible Thursday and potentially until the weekend. Tonight and Wednesday should stay mostly dry, which will allow river levels to return to near normal in Isfield, by 03:00 18/12/2019. But heavy rain will return Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday. Further flooding should be expected Thursday and potentially until the weekend in all communities on the River Uck. Possibly with higher water levels and more extensive flooding. The rain should clear from 08:00 17/12/2019, leaving a mostly dry day, but heavy rain will return Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday. The river will initially peak in Isfield by 11:00 17/12/2019. Given the weather outlook, further flooding should be expected later in the week, most likely with higher water levels and more extensive flooding. From 01:00 17/12/2019, flooding could affect fields, gardens and rural roads, including riverside properties through Buxted, near the White Hart pub and areas around Hempstead Mill. Minimal impacts could affect the Roller Mill, Mill Lane and Bridge Cottage in Uckfield. From 04:30 17/12/2019 water is likely to affect gardens of properties around Isfield Mill and Isfield Bridge. River levels are still high, but the Uck has now peaked and is falling through Buxted, Uckfield and Isfield. Minor impact flooding will continue to affect fields, rural roads and gardens of riverside properties, particularly through Isfield; near Isfield Mill and Isfield Bridge, while the river slowly returns to more normal levels by Friday evening 13/12/2019. Only a small amount of rain is currently predicted over the next five days, in the form of fast moving showers, which should not cause the river to rise as high. Please take care walking near fast flowing water. If you have them, we recommend flood protection products are installed as a precaution for the rest of Friday (13/12/2019). From 19:30 12/12/2019 minor impact flooding could affect fields, rural roads and gardens of riverside properties through Buxted, near the White Hart pub and areas around Hempstead Mill. From 01:00 13/12/2019 water is likely to affect gardens of properties around Isfield Mill and Isfield Bridge. Very minimal impacts could affect the Roller Mill, Mill Lane and Bridge Cottage in Uckfield. We are not expecting river levels to exceed heights of November 2019. Rain will shortly ease, but return briefly at 23:00 12/12/2019. Friday 13/12/2019 is expected to be dry. The river should peak by 02:00 13/12/2019, returning to normal by Friday afternoon.
