Consequently, the risk of flooding is increased throughout the afternoon of Sunday. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the road at Reybridge. No further rainfall is forecast overnight on Sunday the 15th and throughout Monday the 16th. We are closely monitoring the situation. Although river levels are now just underneath the flood alert threshold they are expected to rise slightly in response to the rainfall, bringing them back above the threshold. Upper Bristol Avon Alert is active on Thursday the 13/02/2020. Up to 5 to 7 mm has fallen over the last 24 hours. River levels are beginning to rise on the Sherston Avon, Tetbury Avon and the River Avon. Further rain is forecast tomorrow Friday the 12 February 2020 with a further 5 to 10 mm. We are expecting much heavier rain as a result of Storm Dennis over Saturday and Sunday, potentially rainfall totals exceeding 20mm, which are likely to cause flood warnings to be triggered in the Upper reaches of River Avon. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for the road at Reybridge. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers and do not drive through flood water. This may cause the river to rise again in response to the rainfall. There is some uncertainty as to the location of the heavy downpours but these are forecast to move gradually northwards overnight. A band of locally heavy frontal rain has passed over the area today with drier conditions following with the potential for showers. Further frontal rain is expected from late Wednesday into Thursday. The Upper Bristol Avon flood alert is in force based on the forecast rainfall expected for this afternoon and this evening (14th March 2018). The Met Office is forecasting between 10-20 mm today, which will result in an increase in river levels across the upper River Avon catchment throughout Thursday morning (15th March 2018). River levels on the Tetbury Avon at Brokenborough, Sherston Avon at Fosseway, River Avon at Great Somerford and Dauntsey Brook at Dauntsey are currently stable but forecast to rise throughout Thursday morning. These are not expected to result in flood warnings being issued only flood alerts but we will have a better appreciation tomorrow and will provide an update again then.
