Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the Loughton and Abridge area and the River Roding remains high. Levels suggest that there will continue to be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river Roding. Flooding from surface water could also occur. No further significant rainfall is expected on Saturday, whilst showers are possible from Sunday morning. We expect the river to remain high throughout the night on Friday 6 March, though no flooding to properties is forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are continuing to monitor river levels and have staff in the field checking for and clearing blockages in this location. The main area of concern is currently Loughton, where river levels have risen the most. There is likely to be flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river this afternoon and this evening. Flooding from surface water, where water gathers and flows off road surfaces, could also occur. We expect the river to remain high this afternoon and this evening, but levels should start to fall overnight into Sunday 1st March. No flooding to properties is currently expected. The river is still high and out of banks in low lying areas around Abridge. Some further fast moving isolated showers are forecast over the area over night, however these are not expected to cause any impacts. The flood alert issued yesterday (Monday 22nd January) remains in force across the middle River Roding. We do not expect any property flooding. The weather today has been largely dry and river levels on the River Roding have fallen steadily through the course of the day. Monday was mainly dry across Essex, but levels on the River Roding are still elevated and continue to rise slowly in response to the weekends weather.
