Langstone Harbour
Monday afternoon's tide at 12:00 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara, which brings South Westerly Gale Force 8 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.6 m. The total forecast tide is 5.44 metres Chart Datum (2.71 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, road and car park flooding will occur at Langstone High Street, Royal Oak pub, the Ship Inn Pub (Langstone), South Street, Queen Street and A259 Junction of Lumley Road. In Emsworth, the promenade will become open harbour. Isolated property flooding is expected. Water levels in the river at Bridge Road may rise to the top of the bank. At 00:30 on 11/02/2020‚ the tide is lower, but may cause minor impacts. We may issue further advice tomorrow. To help protect property, we have installed stop logs and drained the mill pond at Emsworth. If you have flood protection, please install it 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 16:00 on 10/02/2020.

Langstone Harbour
Wednesdays early morning tide at 02:00 on 15/01/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Brendan which brings Gale Force 8 Southerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.67 m. The total forecast tide is 5.34 metres Chart Datum (2.61 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the tide and waves will cause road and car park flooding at Langstone High Street, Royal Oak, Ship Inn Pub (Langstone), South Street, Queen Street and A259 Junction of Lumley Road. Large waves will cause spray overtopping at Emsworth Promenade and at the immediate water front and property flooding may occur. After this tide‚ no further impacts are expected. To help protect property, we have installed stop logs at Emsworth Promenade. We will also lower water levels in Emsworth Mill Pond, as heavy rainfall is forecast overnight. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will remove this message by 12:00 on 15/01/2020

Wednesday morning's tide at 11:15 on 27/11/2019 is higher than normal due to ex Storm Sebastien which brings strong South Westerly Force 7 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.48 m. The total forecast tide is 5.42 metres Chart Datum (2.69 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, Langstone High Street, the Ship Inn Pub, Langstone, South Street, Queen Street, A259 Junction of Lumley Road, Emsworth will flood. In Emsworth, the promenade will become open harbour. The tide will back up through the culvert under the A259 causing the water level at Bridge Road to rise to the top of the river bank. Tide levels remain high until Thursday evening (28/11/2019), but it is unlikely that further messages will be issued. To help protect property, we have installed stop logs at Emsworth Promenade. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will remove this message by 16:00 on 27/11/2019.

Sunday afternoon's tide at 12:30 on 29/09/2019 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.3 m (surge). The forecast tide is 5.38 metres Chart Datum (2.65 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, Langstone High Street, the Ship Inn Pub at Langstone, South Street, Queen Street and the A259 Junction of Lumley Road will flood. This will affect a small number of properties. In Emsworth, the promenade will become open harbour. The tide will flow through the culvert under the A259 and water will rise to the top of the river bank at Bridge Road. Until Tuesday (01/10/2019)‚ tides are high enough to cause minor impacts at each high water. We'll issue further advice. To help protect property, we have installed stop logs at the south of Emsworth Mill Pond. Please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 29/09/2019
