Flood Warning issued on 17 Feb 2022 15:17
Langstone Harbour, The Solent
Friday afternoon's tide at 12:30 on 18/02/2022 is higher than normal due to Storm Eunice which brings Severe Gale Force 9 South Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.67 m. The total forecast tide is 5.38 metres Chart Datum (2.65 mAOD) at Portsmouth. The beach at Eastoke may struggle to reduce the impact of large waves, allowing water to push much further up the beach than normal. For 1 hour either side of high tide, property at Eastoke corner, near the nature reserve, and along the southern frontage at Southwood Road may experience flooding. Overtopping of splash walls at the beach front may cause garden flooding. Beach huts at West Beach, may also be affected. Tide levels remain a little elevated on Saturday 19/02/22 at 13:00. We may issue further advice tomorrow. We are liaising with the local authority and their response teams over beach condition at South Hayling. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will update or remove this message by 18:00 on 18/02/2022.

Flood Warning issued on 9 Feb 2020 12:15
Langstone Harbour, The Solent
Monday afternoon's tide at 12:00 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara, which brings South Westerly Gale Force 8 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.6 m. The total forecast tide is 5.44 metres Chart Datum (2.71 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the tide and waves are more likely to cause overtopping into beach facing gardens at Bembridge Drive, Meath Close, The Strand and Southwood Road. It may also cause road flooding at Southwood Road. A small number of properties could experience flood impacts. At 00:30 on 11/02/2020‚ the tide level is much lower, but may still cause minor impact flooding. We'll issue further advice tomorrow. We continue to monitor the forecast, and will ensure that tidal defence gates at Eastoke are closed. If you have flood protection, please install it 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 16:00 on 10/02/2020.

Flood Warning issued on 14 Jan 2020 13:29
Langstone Harbour, The Solent
Wednesday's early morning tide at 02:00 on 15/01/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Brendan which brings Gale Force 8 Southerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.67 m. The total forecast tide is 5.34 metres Chart Datum (2.61 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high tide, Northney Road will flood. At South Hayling, large, higher energy waves could move shingle, allowing the tide to be forced higher up the beach. Overtopping of beach front splash walls and flooding to beach front gardens is expected. Water will also flow into Southwood Road. It is possible that some property flooding could occur. After this tide‚ no further impacts are expected. We are liaising with the local authority over beach condition.
