Thursday's early morning tide at 00:21 and 02:39 on 12/03/2020 remains elevated, and forecast at 5.10 metres Chart Datum (2.36 mAOD) at Southampton. Thursday afternoon's tide at 12:36 and 14:54 on 12/03/2020 is forecast at 5.15 metres Chart Datum (2.41 mAOD), with Westerly Force 6 winds. Both tides are lower than recorded earlier today, but for 1 hour either side of high water, may cause minor impact flooding affecting the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill and boat yards at Bursledon. Road and car park flooding will occur at Hamble, Warsash, Magazine Lane Marchwood, Shore Road and Promenade, Hythe. After tomorrow, no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid parking in low lying coastal car parks and plan driving routes to avoid the roads listed above. We will remove this message by 17:00 on 12/03/2020.

Wednesday morning's tide at 11:53 on 11/03/2020 and 14:12 on 11/03/2020 is higher than normal, due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.24 m. The total forecast tide is 5.20 metres Chart Datum (2.46 mAOD) at Southampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, very minor impact flooding will affect; the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill and boat yards at Bursledon. Road and car park flooding will occur at The Quay Hamble, Rising Sun Pub Warsash, Magazine Lane at Marchwood, Shore Road and Promenade, Hythe. At Testwood, the tide may come close to property situated nearest the estuary. On Thursday 12/03/2020 at 12:36 the tide level will be a little lower, but minor impact flooding may also occur. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid parking in low lying coastal car parks and plan driving routes to avoid the roads listed in this message. The early Thursday morning tide at 01:36 and 03:33 on 13/02/2020, may cause minor impact flooding, similar to the impacts described below. Thursday afternoon's tide at 13:47 and 15:39 on 13/02/2020 is also higher than normal, due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.51 m. The total forecast tide is 5.11 metres Chart Datum (2.37 mAOD) at Southampton, although it is possible that the tide may come in a little higher than forecast. For 1 hour either side of high water, very minor impact flooding will affect; the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill and boat yards at Bursledon. Road and car park flooding will occur at The Quay Hamble, Rising Sun Pub Warsash, Magazine Lane at Marchwood, Shore Road and Promenade, Hythe. After this tide, no further impacts are expected. Monday evening's tide at 23:57 on 10/02/2020 and 02:09 am on 11/02/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.39 m. The total forecast tide is 5.09 metres Chart Datum (2.35 mAOD) at Southampton. The tide will be lower than was recorded at lunchtime today, but for 1 hour either side of high water, it is possible that some very minor impact flooding will occur. This may affect the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill and boat yards at Bursledon. Minor impact road and car park flooding may affect The Quay Hamble, Rising Sun Pub Warsash, Magazine Lane at Marchwood, Shore Road and Promenade, Hythe. On Wednesday (12/02/2020) we may issue further advice for the forecast tide at 01:17 on Thursday 13/02/2020. We continue to monitor the forecast. The weather increases tide table values by 0.58 m. The total forecast tide is 5.38 metres Chart Datum (2.64 mAOD) at Southampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane will flood. At Testwood, property nearest the estuary could come close to flooding. Road flooding is expected at Ashlett Creek, Calshot Activity Centre, Hythe sea front, Promenade, Shore Road and High Street; Magazine Lane (Marchwood), Woodmill Lane, Priory Road, St Denys, Quay and Rope Walk (Hamble), Shore Road (Warsash), outbuildings at Fawley Refinery, boat yards at Bursledon and Swanwick. For 1 hour either side of high water, the lower floor of Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane will flood. At Testwood, property nearest the estuary may come close to flooding. For 1 hour either side of high water, tidal flooding will affect; the lower floor of Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane. Boat yards at Bursledon and roads and car parks at Woodmill Lane, the Quay and Ropewalk Hamble, Rising Sun Pub Warsash, Magazine Lane Marchwood, Promenade and Shore Road at Hythe. The tide may come in slightly higher than forecast, with impacts similar to those experienced at the end of September 2019. In magnitude, levels will be very similar to those recorded at lunchtime today. For 1 hour either side of high water, minor flooding to; the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill, boat yards at Bursledon Road, car parks at The Quay, Hamble and Rising Sun Pub Warsash and Magazine Lane, Marchwood is expected. At Testwood the tide will come close to property nearest the estuary. After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled and no further impacts are expected along the south coast. On Monday 30th September 2019 at 12:37, the forecast tide level at Southampton is high, but is much more typical of a normal high spring tide. The forecast water level is 4.99 metres Chart Datum (2.25 mAOD). Winds are light South Westerly Force 3. We are not expecting impacts from this tide. On Tuesday afternoon (01/10/2019) at 13:20, forecast levels could be a little higher. We will update this message with forecast information and a description of impacts for Tuesday’s tide by 18:00 on 30/09/2019.

Early Monday morning's tide at 00:12 and 02:30 on 30/09/2019 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with light Westerly Force 4 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.28 m (surge). The forecast tide is 5.15 metres Chart Datum (2.41 mAOD) at Southampton. This alert is being issued as a precautionary measure, taking into account an underperformance in the forecast tide level last night. Any impact will be more minor and less than observed earlier today. For 1 hour either side of high water, water may flood the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill. Flooding to boat yards, roads and car parks in Hamble, Warsash and Marchwood may also occur. Until Tuesday evening (01/10/2019)‚ tides are high enough to cause minor impacts at each high water. Wednesday morning's tide at 10:18 on 07/11/2018 and 12:12 on 7/11/2018 is higher than normal as unsettled weather brings strong southerly force 7 winds. Levels will be similar to those recorded in January this year. For an hour either side of high water, flooding will affect; the boat yards at Bursledon, Quay at Hamble, Rising Sun car park at Warsash, lower floor level at Eling Tide Mill, Magazine Lane and footpaths at Riverside Park. The weather increases tide table values by 0.48 m (surge) giving a forecast tide of 5.18 metres Chart Datum (2.44 mAOD) at Southampton (although tide levels could peak 10cm higher than this). Tide levels remain high over the next few days but further impacts are not expected. We continue to monitor the forecast.
