The total forecast tide is 4.98 metres Chart Datum (2.25 mAOD) at Portsmouth. At South Hayling, waves could remove shingle. This could cause overtopping into beach front gardens at Southwood Road, Bembridge Drive, Meath Close and The Strand. We are still experiencing the impacts from Tuesday's record high tide (09/04/24), which caused property and road flooding at Marine Walk, Seaview Road and near to the Sailing Club. Thursday’s afternoon tide (13:45 on 11/04/24) is forecast to be around 10cm lower. We are liaising with the local authority over the condition of the beach at South Hayling. We have deployed sandbags to manage flood risk at Havant Road. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide and install flood protection if you have it. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney may flood. At South Hayling, waves could remove shingle. Thursday’s early morning tide (01:30 on 11/04/24) is forecast to be around 20cm lower. Flooding impacts caused by this tide will be reduced. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney may flood. At South Hayling, waves could remove shingle. Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:15 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The total forecast tide is 5.75 metres Chart Datum (3.02 mAOD). The tide could be higher than ever recorded before. Property flooding is expected at Langstone, Northney, Selsmore and South Hayling. For 1 hour either side of high water, all coastal roads across Hayling Island and large areas of low lying land will experience flooding. Properties next to slipways at Ferry Road, West Hayling and low lying property at Stoke are at risk. After this tide the weather becomes more settled but minor impacts could continue until Thursday (11/04/2024). We are ensuring that tidal defence gates at Eastoke are closed and liaising with local response teams over the condition of the beach at South Hayling. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. At South Hayling, shingle and debris may be thrown by strong winds and large waves. At 00:47 on Thursday (03/08/2023)‚ the tide level remains elevated but will be lower than at Wednesday lunchtime. Sunday's early morning tide at 01:06 on 27/11/22 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with Southerly Force 5 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.25 m. The total forecast tide is 5.11 metres Chart Datum (2.38 mAOD) at Portsmouth. On Thursday, high energy waves removed a significant amount of shingle at South Hayling. At Eastoke Corner, the beach crest remains very narrow. Whilst the next tide is not overly high, large waves could remove more material from the beach. As a result, for 30 minutes either side of high water, sea front gardens and roads nearest Eastoke Corner may experience minor impact flooding. On Sunday afternoon (13:15 on 27/11/22) the tide is lower and we do not expect impacts. However, in the early hours of Monday morning (01:45 on 28/11/22), the tide level is once again a little more elevated, so we may issue further advice. We continue to monitor the forecast. High energy waves are possible, which could deplete the shingle and force large amounts of water up the beach, overtopping splash walls and flood boards. Tuesday afternoon's tide at 14:30 on 02/02/2021 is forecast at 4.92 metres Chart Datum (2.19 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Winds are South Westerly Force 5. Flooding remains possible as the condition of the shingle beach at South Hayling was affected by very high energy waves yesterday. Although conditions should be improving, for 2 hours either side of high water, some higher energy waves may still affect the beach this afternoon. This could move and remove shingle, causing garden and road flooding along the southern frontage. We are liaising with the local authority who are clearing the promenade. They will also be working on the beach today with heavy machinery to help reduce flood risk. Some sea front car parks may be closed. Avoid South Hayling seafront today. Tuesday's early morning tide at 02:15 on 02/02/2021 is forecast at 4.93 metres Chart Datum (2.20 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Winds are Southerly Force 5. Flooding is possible as the condition of the shingle beach at South Hayling (including West Beach and Eastoke Point) has been affected by very high energy waves today. High energy waves could also occur this evening. For 3 hours either side of high water, waves could continue to remove shingle from the beach, causing garden and road flooding along the southern frontage. Conditions may be similar at high tide at 14:30 tomorrow (02/02/2021). We'll issue further advice. We are liaising with the local authority who are closing the car park at West Beach, clearing the promenade and who are currently operating the excavator on the beach to try and reform the beach crest. Saturday night's tide at 22:30 (14/11/2020), remains elevated at 5.19 metres Chart Datum with Southerly Force 6 winds. Sunday morning's tide at 11:00 on 15/11/2020 is also higher than normal with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds and moderate waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.18 m. The total forecast tide is 5.35 metres Chart Datum (2.62 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Minor flood impacts are expected at each high water. For 1 hour either side of high tide, the main road at Northney will flood. On Sunday, at South Hayling, waves could remove shingle on the beach. This may cause garden flooding to sea front properties. At 00:00 on Monday 16/11/2020‚ tide levels are also similar. We'll issue further advice. We are liaising with the local authority over the beach condition at South Hayling. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide. Shingle and debris can be thrown by strong winds. Saturday morning's tide at 10:15 on 14/11/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.27 m. The total forecast tide is 5.35 metres Chart Datum (2.62 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. At South Hayling, strong winds may move or remove shingle on the beach. If this occurs, some garden flooding may affect beach front properties. At 11:00 on Sunday (15/11/2020), tide levels are similar but marginally lower. We may issue further advice. We are liaising with the local authority over the condition of the beach at South Hayling. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide and avoid driving through flood water on low lying roads, especially at Northney. We will update or remove this Flood Alert by 16:00 on Saturday 14/11/2020.

Wednesday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 11/03/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.31 m. The total forecast tide is 5.33 metres Chart Datum (2.60 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney and car parks along Sea Front, South Hayling will flood. As waves are not large, overtopping into gardens at South Hayling is not expected. Tide levels will remain elevated until Friday 13/03/2020. Some minor impacts may occur at each high tide until then, but this will not affect property. We continue to monitor the forecast. We are liaising with the Local Authority over the beach condition at South Hayling. Avoid driving through any flood water which affects roads. We will remove this message by 17:00 on 11/03/2020.

Thursday's early morning tide at 02:00 on 13/02/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 7 winds. Wave heights are moderate. The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.17 metres Chart Datum (2.44 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels are not overly high but, for 1 hour either side of high water, wind and waves could move shingle at South Hayling. Minor overtopping or spray affecting beach facing gardens at Bembridge Drive, Meath Close, The Strand and Southwood Road is possible. Property flooding is not expected. At 14:15 on Thursday 13/02/2020 the tide is similar in height, and may cause similar impacts. Conditions should then improve until the weekend, when Storm Dennis may bring rough seas. We are liaising with the local authority over beach condition at South Hayling. Avoid South Hayling sea front at high tide. We will remove this message by 17:00 on 13/02/2020.

Today and tomorrow, tide levels and wave heights remain slightly elevated, although they should not cause any impacts. In the early hours of Thursday morning (13/02/2020) at 02:00, the tide level at Portsmouth is higher than normal. Tomorrow (Wednesday 12/02/2020), if the forecast tide level has increased, then we might issue another Flood Alert for minor impact flooding. This message will be updated or removed by 16:00 on Wednesday 12/02/2020.

The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.18 metres Chart Datum (2.45 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. At South Hayling, some spray overtopping may affect beach front gardens and sea front car parks. On Wednesday (12/02/2020) we may issue further advice for the forecast tide at 02:00 on Thursday 13/02/2020. Avoid the exposed coast at high tide. Spray and large waves can carry and throw shingle and debris. We are liaising with the local authority over beach condition at South Hayling. We will remove this message by 10:00 on 11/02/2020

Monday afternoon's tide at 12:00 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara which brings South Westerly Gale Force 8 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.6 m. The total forecast tide is 5.44 metres Chart Datum (2.71 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, the main road at Northney will flood. A Flood Warning is in force for impacts at South Hayling and Eastoke. At 00:30 on 11/02/2020‚ the tide level is lower, but it still may cause minor impact flooding. We'll issue further advice tomorrow. We are ensuring that tidal defence gates at Eastoke are closed. We are liaising with the local authority over the beach condition at South Hayling. Avoid South Hayling seafront at high tide. Shingle and debris can be thrown by strong winds and large waves. Sunday evening's tide at 23:45 on 09/02/2020 is affected by Storm Ciara which brings strong Force 7 Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.29 m. The total forecast tide is 5.02 metres Chart Datum (2.29 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels are not overly high, and waves will be 1m lower than experienced this morning, but for 1 hour either side of high water, large waves could still affect the beach at South Hayling. This could cause spray or overtopping and affect beach facing gardens at Bembridge Drive, Meath Close, The Strand and Southwood Road. Property flooding is not expected. At 12:00 on Monday 10/02/2020‚ the tide will be much higher and we'll issue further advice in the next few hours. We are liaising with the local authority over beach condition at South Hayling. Tide levels are not overly high, but for 1 to 2 hours either side of high water, large waves may affect the beach at South Hayling. The energy in the waves will move or could remove shingle. This could lead to some spray or overtopping affecting beach facing gardens at Bembridge Drive, Meath Close, The Strand and Southwood Road. Property flooding is not expected.
