Wednesday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 11/03/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.31 m. The total forecast tide is 5.33 metres Chart Datum (2.60 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 30 minutes either side of high water, some spray overtopping of sea defence walls into low lying coastal roads and the sea front car parks between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road, is expected. Property flooding is not expected. As wave heights are not forecast to be large, overtopping impacts should be relatively minor. Tide levels will remain elevated until Friday 13/03/2020. Some minor impacts affecting the sea front car parks and roads may occur at each high tide until then. We continue to monitor the forecast. Be careful if driving, parking or walking at Gosport or Hillhead sea front at high tide. We will update or remove this message by 17:00 on 11/03/2020.

Tuesday's very early morning tide at 00:30 am on 11/02/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.18 metres Chart Datum (2.45 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, overtopping into the coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport is expected. Road flooding may also occur at Park Road, Parham and Ferrol Road on the east side of Gosport. Property flooding is not expected. On Wednesday (12/02/2020) we may issue further advice for the forecast tide at 02:00 am on Thursday 13/02/2020.We continue to monitor the forecast. Be careful if driving at Gosport sea front at high tide. Large waves could affect the main road at Stokes Bay. We will remove this message by 10:00 on 11/02/2020

Monday afternoon's tide at 12:00 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara which brings South Westerly Gale Force 8 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.6 m. The total forecast tide is 5.44 metres Chart Datum (2.71 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, overtopping into the coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport is expected. Road flooding is expected at Park Road, Parham and Ferrol Road. Properties at the lower end of Hillhead Road may experience garden flooding as a result of wave overtopping. Property flooding is not expected. At 00:30 on 11/02/2020‚ the tide is lower, but it still may cause minor impact flooding. We'll issue further advice. We continue to monitor the forecast. Be careful if driving, parking or walking at Gosport sea front at high tide. Large waves will carry and throw shingle and debris and will affect the main road at Stokes Bay. The weather increases tide table values by 0.67 m. The total forecast tide is 5.34 metres Chart Datum (2.61 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, spray overtopping of sea defence walls into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected. At Hillhead, low lying Sea front car parks may flood. Property flooding is not expected. After this tide‚ no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. Be careful if driving at Gosport sea front at high tide. Large waves can carry and throw shingle and debris, which could affect the main road at Stokes Bay. Wednesday morning's tide at 11:15 on 27/11/2019 is higher than normal due to ex Storm Sebastien which brings strong South Westerly Force 7 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.48m. The total forecast tide is 5.42 metres Chart Datum (2.69 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For at least 30 minutes either side of high water, more significant overtopping into the coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport is expected. The tide may come close to property at the immediate waters edge on the east side of Gosport, including Parham and Ferrol Road. Tide levels remain high until Thursday evening (28/11/2019), but it is unlikely that further messages will be issued. We continue to monitor the forecast. Debris may affect the main road at Stokes Bay. Be careful if driving, parking or walking at Gosport sea front at high tide. We will remove this message by 16:00 on 27/11/2019.

For 30 minutes either side of high water, minor overtopping of sea defence walls into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected. At Hillhead, low lying Sea front car parks may flood. Property flooding is not expected. At 11:15 on Wednesday 27/11/2019‚ the forecast tide will be even higher. We'll issue further advice tomorrow. Shingle and debris could affect the main road at Stokes Bay. Be careful if driving, parking or walking at Gosport sea front at high tide. We continue to monitor the forecast. For 1 hour either side of high water, large waves will cause overtopping into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road. At Hillhead, low lying sea front car parks may also flood. Property flooding is not expected. After this tide‚ levels will return to normal and wave heights will decrease. The forecast tide is 5.30 metres Chart Datum (2.57 mAOD) at Portsmouth. In magnitude, tide levels are similar to those recorded on Sunday lunchtime. For 1 hour either side of high water, overtopping into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected. At Hillhead, low lying seafront car parks may be flooded for a very short period of time. Property flooding is not expected. After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled and no further impacts are expected along the south coast. We continue to monitor forecasts. Avoid seafront footpaths where spray overtopping of sea walls occurs. We will remove this message by 18:00 on 01/10/2019

The weather increases tide table values by 0.3 m (surge). The forecast tide is 5.38 metres Chart Datum (2.65 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, overtopping onto low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected. At Hillhead, low lying Sea front car parks may be flooded for a very short period of time. Property flooding is not expected. Until Tuesday (01/10/2019) ‚ tides are high enough to cause minor impacts at each high water. The largest impacts will occur on this tide. We continue to monitor forecasts. Avoid sea front footpaths where spray overtopping of sea walls will occur. We will remove this message by 16:00 on 29/09/2019.

Wednesday morning's tide at 10:45 on 07/11/2018 is higher than normal as unsettled weather brings strong southerly force 7 winds and large waves. Levels will be similar to those recorded in January this year. Overtopping into low lying coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport, namely Cliff Road and Stokes Bay Road is expected for an hour either side of high water. At Hillhead, low lying Sea front car parks may be flooded for a very short period of time. The weather increases tide table values by 0.40 m (surge) giving a forecast tide of 5.32 metres Chart Datum (2.59 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels remain high until Saturday, but are much closer to normal, with only minor impacts expected. We continue to monitor tide levels and forecasts. Avoid walking through flood water as it may conceal hidden hazards. This message will be removed by 07/11/2018 at 16:00 as levels return to normal and no further impacts are expected.

On Saturday, Storm Brian brings strong winds and large waves up to 3m. It is possible that actual tide levels might be 0.1m higher than forecast. Overtopping into the coastal roads between Hillhead and Gosport is possible at time of high water. Sea front car parks may also be flooded for a short period of time. Due to the strong winds keep away from the exposed coastal frontage over high tide. This Flood Alert will be removed around 1600hrs on 21/10/2017 when coastal conditions will have returned to normal.
