Friday afternoon's tide at 13:45 on 21/08/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.37 m (surge). The forecast tide is 5.24 metres Chart Datum (2.51 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, levels will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park at Langstone will flood. Water may flow into the bottom third of Langstone High Street, but flood depths will be shallow. Some spray overtopping may occur at The Promenade, near to the sailing club, Emsworth. After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled and no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, and live directly at the harbour front, please install flood protection 1 hour before the time of high water. We will remove this message by 17:00 on 21/08/2020.

At Portsmouth, Thursday's early morning tide at 00:45 on 12/03/2020 is higher than normal with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.24m. The total forecast tide is 5.20 metres Chart Datum (2.47mAOD). On Thursday afternoon, at 13:00 on 12/03/2020, there will be strong Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.32m. The forecast tide is 5.24 metres Chart Datum(2.51 mAOD). Impacts on both tides will be very similar and confined to the immediate harbour front. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The tide will flood sea front car parks and the road at the lower end of Langstone High Street. After tomorrow‚ no further impacts are expected. We will lower levels in Emsworth Mill Pond. If you have it, and live directly at the harbour front, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. This Alert will be removed by 17:00 on 12/03/2020

Wednesday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 11/03/2020, is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.31 m. The total forecast tide is 5.37 metres Chart Datum (2.64 mAOD) at Portsmouth. For 1 hour either side of high water, levels will be high at South Street and Queen Street Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park (Langstone) will flood. Water will flow across the A259 junction with Lumley Road, flooding driveways. Road flooding will affect the bottom third of Langstone High Street. Depth of flood water in roads will be around 0.15m. Tide levels remain elevated until Friday 13/03/2020 (though will be a little lower in height). We'll issue further advice. In Emsworth, we have lowered levels in the Mill Pond. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 17:00 on 11/03/2020

Wednesday's early morning tide at 00:00 (midnight) on 11/03/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 6 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.15 m. The total forecast tide is 5.18 metres Chart Datum (2.45 mAOD) at Portsmouth. The tide is not overly high and large waves are not expected, but for 30 minutes either side of high water, the tide may flow into the roads and car parks and cause minor impact flooding to harbour side properties, mainly at Langstone High Street, The Royal Oak and Ship Inn, Langstone. At 12:15 on Wednesday 11/03/2020, the tide will be higher, but will still only cause minor impact flooding. We'll issue further advice tomorrow morning. We have lowered levels in Emsworth Mill Pond. If you have it, and live directly at the harbour front, please install flood protection 1 hour before high water, leaving it in place until Wednesday afternoon. We will update this message by 08:00 on 11/03/2020.

Thursday's early morning tide at 02:00 on 13/02/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 7 winds and moderate waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.17 metres Chart Datum (2.44 mAOD) at Portsmouth. The tide levels are not overly high, but for 1 hour either side of high water, minor impact flooding may occur at The Promenade, South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. In Langstone, properties at the immediate sea front may also experience impacts. At 14:15 on Thursday 13/02/2020, the tide is similar in height and may cause similar minor impacts. Conditions should then improve until the weekend, when Storm Dennis may bring rough seas. We will keep our drop boards in place at Emsworth Mill Pond to help protect property. Today and tomorrow, tide levels and wave heights remain slightly elevated. As a precautionary measure, we recommend that flood protection is left in place for high tide at 12:45 (11/02/2020). In the early hours of Thursday morning (13/02/2020) at 02:00, the tide level at Portsmouth is higher than normal. Tomorrow (Wednesday 12/02/2020), if the forecast tide level has increased, then we might issue another Flood Alert for minor impact flooding. This message will updated or removed by 16:00 on Wednesday 12/02/2020.

The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m. The total forecast tide is 5.18 metres Chart Datum (2.45 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Impacts will be relatively minor and confined to the immediate sea front. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park, Langstone will flood. Water will flow into the bottom third of Langstone High Street but flood depths will be relatively shallow. On Wednesday (12/02/2020) we may issue further advice for the forecast tide at 02:00 on Thursday 13/02/2020. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide tonight and we also recommend that it is installed tomorrow lunchtime for high tide at 12:45 (11/02/2020). The total forecast tide is 5.02 metres Chart Datum (2.29 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels are not overly high and waves are 1m lower than experienced this morning, but for 1 hour either side of high water, some minor impact flooding may affect The Promenade, South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth and immediate harbour side properties at Langstone. At 12:00 on Monday 10/02/2020‚ the tide will be higher. A Flood Warning is in force for this tide. To help protect property, we have installed drop boards and lowered the pond level in Emsworth. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 16:00 on 10/02/2020.

The total forecast tide is 5.02 metres Chart Datum (2.29 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tide levels are not overly high, but for 1 to 2 hours either side of high water, large waves may affect The Promenade, South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. In Langstone, immediate harbour side properties in the High Street, near to and including The Royal Oak pub could also see impacts. At 12:00 on Monday 10/02/2020‚ the tide will be much higher and could cause property flooding. We'll issue further advice. To help protect property, we will install drop boards at Emsworth Mill Pond and we will drain the Pond. The weather increases tide table values by 0.45 m. The forecast tide is 5.13 metres Chart Datum (2.40 mAOD) at Portsmouth. This Flood Alert is being issued as a precautionary measure, for potential minor impact flooding, which would be confined to the immediate sea front. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park (Langstone) may flood. The tide should not flow far into Langstone High Street. Any road flooding will be shallow. After this tide, no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. The very early Saturday morning tide at 00:15 on 14/12/2019 and the Saturday lunchtime tide at 12:30 on 14/12/2019, will be slightly lower than the tide recorded earlier today. Both of these tides should cause no impact, although on Saturday lunchtime (12:30, 14/12/2019) whilst tide levels are lower, waves are bigger and winds are Gale Force Westerly 8. This may cause some minor impact flooding to roads, promenades or car parks at the harbour front for 1 hour either side of high water. In the early hours of Sunday morning at 01:00 on 15/12/2019, the tide is higher and it may cause minor impact flooding. If you have it, we recommend leaving flood protection in place over the next few days. We will update this Flood Alert with information for Sunday morning’s tide tomorrow (14/12/2019) by 16:00.

This Flood Alert is being issued as a precautionary measure, for minor impact flooding, confined to the immediate sea front. Impacts will be confined to the immediate sea front. For 1 hour either side of high water, the tide could affect South Street, Queen Street and Promenade in Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park at Langstone will flood. Water and waves will affect the lower end of Langstone High Street. Flood depths in the road here will be relatively shallow. Impacts will be relatively minor (less than earlier today) and confined to the immediate sea front. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park, Langstone will flood. Water will flow into the bottom third of Langstone High Street. Flood depths in roads will be shallow. Impacts will be relatively minor and confined to the immediate sea front. For 30 minutes either side of high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street, Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park, Langstone will flood. Water will flow into the bottom third of Langstone High Street. Flood depths will be shallow. At 12:30 on Sunday 29 September‚ tide levels will be much higher with property flooding expected. We'll issue further advice. We continue to monitor levels and forecasts. In the early hours of Saturday morning; 00:15 (10/11/2018) tide levels will be higher than normal with strong southerly force 8 winds and large waves. This alert is issued as a precautionary measure, aimed at ensuring property in Langstone High Street still has flood protection installed. The forecast tide at Portsmouth is 5.11 metres Chart Datum (2.38mAOD) but could peak at 5.2 metres Chart Datum (2.48 mAOD). This means levels will be between 0.1 and 0.2m lower than on Wednesday morning, but wave heights are larger and winds could increase to gale force 9 later this evening. At high tide, impacts will be minor, with water levels fairly high and near to property at the harbour front. Road flooding is not expected. At Emsworth Mill Pond, small amounts of spray could affect the promenade if winds increase to gale force 9. After this tide no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor forecasts. Wednesday morning's tide at 10:45 on 07/11/2018 is much higher than normal as unsettled weather brings strong southerly force 7 winds and large waves. Levels will be similar to those recorded in January this year. For an hour either side of high tide, water levels will be very high at South Street and Queen Street Emsworth. The Ship Inn car park, and Langstone High Street will flood. Water will flow across the A259 junction with Lumley Road. The weather increases tide table values by 0.40 m (surge) giving a forecast tide of 5.32 metres Chart Datum (2.59 mAOD) at Portsmouth. Tides remain high until Saturday, but levels are much closer to normal high spring tide values, with only minor impacts expected. We continue to monitor forecasts. At Langstone High Street we recommend moving cars and installing flood protection. This message will be removed by 07/11/2018 at 16:00 as further significant impacts are not expected.

This Alert is being issued as a precautionary measure. Over the last few days the tide at Portsmouth has been coming in higher than forecast. As larger waves are expected Friday lunchtime, it's possible that very minor flood impacts will affect the immediate sea front for 30 minutes either side of high water. Spray overtopping could affect Emsworth Mill Pond South, small amounts of water may flood into the Ship Inn car park. We recommend that cars don't park at the bottom of Langstone High Street. Flood protection could also be installed as a precaution. This message will be removed on 12/10/2018 at 16:00 when tide levels return to normal and further impacts are not expected. A similar pattern is possible at next high tide and with winds increasing, a Flood Alert is being issued as a precautionary measure. Any impacts will be very minor, and confined to the immediate sea front. At high tide, water will be high at South Street, Queen Street, Langstone High Street and the Ship Inn car park. We are installing stop logs at the southern end of Emsworth Mill pond and lowering the pond level. We recommend installing flood protection. This message will be updated by 12:00 on 05/03/2018. At high tide, water will be high at South Street and Queen Street Emsworth. We are installing stop logs at the southern end of Emsworth Mill pond. The Ship Inn car park at Langstone may flood. At Langstone High street, we recommend parked cars are moved and flood protection installed. Tides remain high over the next few days, but are not near to Flood Alert thresholds. Water will be high around South Street in Emsworth, the Ship Inn car park, Langstone and the A259 junction with Lumley Road could flood. The bottom of Langstone high street and south Emsworth Mill Pond will also be affected so flood protection products should be installed. On Saturday, Storm Brian brings strong winds and large waves up to 3m. It is possible that actual tide levels might be 0.1m higher than forecast. Water will be high around South Street, Emsworth and Queen Street near the Slipper Pond. The Environment Agency will install stop logs at the southern end of Emsworth Mill pond, property protection should also be used. The Ship Inn car park at Langstone may flood. Water will be high at Langstone High street where parked cars should be moved and flood protection also installed.
