High river levels over the next two days may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible on 23/02/2026, following a very wet January and February. Flooding could affect North Walls Recreation Ground and River Park. Winchester City Council have installed flood barriers at Park Avenue, River Park, and Water Lane. From Monday (23/02/2026) to Wednesday (25/02/2026), virtually no rain is forecast, giving the river a chance to recover. Further rainfall is forecast on Thursday & Friday (26/02/2026 & 27/02/2026); if this is realised the river may rise again. River levels will remain higher than normal throughout February and into March. We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities including Winchester City Council regarding sluice operation. This message will be updated by 18:00 on 25/02/2026.

High river levels over the next two days may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible on 22/02/2026 because of above average rainfall in January and February. Flooding could affect North Walls Recreation Ground and River Park. Winchester City Council have installed flood barriers at Park Avenue, River Park, and Water Lane. Tomorrow, some areas may receive more heavy rain. Up to 18mm is possible. The Flow in the Itchen has been slowly decreasing, but any further rainfall will cause it to rise again. From Monday 23/02/26 to Wednesday 25/02/26, minimal rain is forecast each day (up to 1mm). This will give the river a chance to recover. We are liaising with emergency services and local authorities including Winchester City Council regarding sluice operation. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Flood water could be deep. Flooding could affect North Walls Recreation Ground and River Park. Winchester City Council have installed flood barriers at Park Avenue, River Park, and Water Lane. If heavy rain affects the River Itchen in Winchester, then river levels will rise. Small amounts of rain are forecast from Thursday (19/02/2026) to Saturday (21/02/2026).
