River levels in the Itchen around Winchester are falling steadily but forecast rain from Thursday evening 26/02/2026 through to Friday morning could increase water levels. Flooding could affect North Walls Recreation Ground and River Park. Winchester City Council have installed flood barriers at River Park, and Water Lane. Barriers have been removed at Park Avenue as the situation is improving. Flood risk should start to diminish from Friday afternoon. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and liaising with Winchester City Council regarding sluice operation. Don't put yourself or others at risk . Flood water could be deep. Flooding could affect North Walls Recreation Ground and River Park. Winchester City Council have installed flood barriers at Park Avenue, River Park, and Water Lane. From Monday (23/02/2026) to Wednesday (25/02/2026), virtually no rain is forecast, giving the river a chance to recover. Further rainfall is forecast on Thursday & Friday (26/02/2026 & 27/02/2026); if this is realised the river may rise again.
