In the last 48 hours, 34 mm of rain was recorded at Otterbourne, this is over half a month’s average rainfall and follows months of prolonged wet weather. Today (Friday 29/03/2024) there will be out of bank flooding affecting Bishopstoke Road Playing Fields and possibly some gardens in Bishopstoke. Water may also affect the top of Duttons Lane and Withy Meadows, Eastleigh. Water levels are unlikely to begin to fall until Saturday 30/03/2024, with flood impacts continuing until then. Scattered showers are forecast today (29/03/2024) but will not produce significant amounts of rainfall. The forecast for the rest of the weekend is to be fairly dry. While water levels in the river will begin to reduce, they will remain higher than normal and will be sensitive to any additional rainfall over the next few weeks. In the last 48 hours, 35 mm of rain was recorded at Otterbourne, this is over half a month’s average rainfall and follows months of prolonged wet weather. Today (Thursday 28/03/2024) there will be out of bank flooding affecting Bishopstoke Road Playing Fields and possibly some gardens in Bishopstoke. Water may also affect the top of Duttons Lane and Withy Meadows, Eastleigh. Heavy showers will continue to affect the area over the next 24 hours with a further 30mm possible. River levels are increasing slowly in response to the overnight rainfall, and will continue to do so, during today. The remainder of the day and overnight is forecast to be dry. Tomorrow (28/02/2020) and Saturday (29/02/2020) further rainfall is forecast, a total of 16 to 25mm is expected. Water levels in the River Itchen are high. After yesterday’s rain, river levels increased slightly but are now very slowly falling. Currently, out of bank flooding will be affecting land surrounding Dutton Lane in Eastleigh, although impacts would have improved over the last few days. Today (25/02/2020), and tomorrow (26/02/2020) only small amounts of rain are forecast. This may allow the river to recover a little. From Thursday (27/02/2020) to Saturday (29/02/2020), 20 to 40mm of rain is forecast. If the maximum totals affect the river, then levels will be very high at the weekend. Water levels in the River Itchen are high but stable. Currently, out of bank flooding will be affecting land surrounding Dutton Lane in Eastleigh, although impacts would have improved over the last few days. Today (24/02/2020) up to 15mm of rain is forecast. This will see an increase in river levels and minor flood impacts are expected to continue. Tuesday (25/02/2020) and Wednesday (26/02/2020) should see fairly small amounts of rain. On Thursday (27/02/2020) and Friday (28/02/2020) heavier rainfall is forecast. If the heavier rain does affect the area, then levels will rise, causing deeper out of bank flooding. Please remain prepared for further impacts over the next five days. Today (21/02/2020) and tomorrow (22/02/2020) the forecast is fairly dry. From Saturday evening (22/02/2020) through to Tuesday (25/02/2020), 20mm of rain is forecast. From today (20/02/2020) until Saturday (22/02/2020) very small amounts of rain are forecast. On Sunday (23/02/2020), up to 10mm of rain is forecast. Generally, over the next 5 days, river levels will rise and fall a little, but impacts should remain fairly stable. As some days will be relatively dry, the overall situation should begin to improve. Water levels in the River Itchen are high but stable. Currently, out of bank flooding will be affecting land surrounding Dutton Lane in Eastleigh. Over the next 5 days, small amounts of rain are forecast each day, except on Friday (21/02/2020) which should remain dry. Throughout this week, water levels in the river channel will remain high, rising and falling in response to relatively little rainfall. A continuation of minor impact flooding affecting land and roads is expected. We will continue to monitor the forecast and will issue further advice if levels rise significantly. Water levels in the Lower River Itchen remain high following the heavy rainfall over the weekend. In the last 48 hours, 54 mm of rain was recorded at Otterbourne, which is more than half a month’s rainfall. Water levels are currently stable, but today, there will be out of bank flooding affecting Bishopstoke Road Playing Fields and gardens in Bishopstoke. Water may also continue to affect the top of Duttons Lane and Withy Meadows, Eastleigh. Over the next 5 days, small amounts of rain are expected each day. This will keep water levels high. Our operational staff will keep the river free of blockages and manage the sluices at Bishopstoke and Stoke Lock. Please remain prepared for ongoing flood impacts this week. Heavy and prolonged rainfall has affected the area over the last 3 weeks with 45mm in 2 days recorded at Otterbourne. Monthly rainfall is one and a half times the normal average rainfall. Forecast rainfall is for 20mm over the next 5 days. Levels will continue to rise for the next few weeks. Upper Itchen levels are high and continue to rise with some out of bank flood impacts through Winchester. The river will be out of bank at Bishopstoke Road Playing Fields with water possibly affecting the top of Duttons Lane and Withy Meadows, Eastleigh. The river will also flood land and gardens of property situated close to the banks of the Itchen at Bishopstoke. Our operational staff will keep the river free of blockages and manage the sluices at Bishopstoke and Stoke Lock.
