The water level in the Monks Brook is now falling as a result of dry weather over the last 6 hours. Minor flooding impacts affecting the recreational ground at Fleming Park will continue until around 18:00 this evening (27/11/2024). At Kingfisher Road, the river will be high throughout the rest of the day. Dry weather is forecast in Hampshire from today (27/11/2024) until Saturday (30/11/2024). River levels will return to normal over the next 24 hours and any minor flooding impacts will reduce. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. Given that the situation should improve, we will remove this Flood Alert by 12:00 on Thursday 28/11/2024.

Over the next 1-2 hours, the river will rise to bankfull and will be deep and fast flowing. The recreational ground at Fleming Park will flood, and the river will be very high at Kingfisher Road. Rain will clear the area by 08:00 (27/11/24), and another 5-10mm of rain is expected in this time. The water level in the Monks Brook is high following 25mm of rain, which was recorded at Otterbourne yesterday. The water level is currently falling but today (Sunday 24/11/24) further rain (20-35mm) is forecast in Hampshire before Storm Bert finally clears the area. If rain impacts the river, then the river level will rise in response. Given the forecast totals, we do not currently expect property flooding directly from the river. However, properties which are affected from surface water because of high river levels may experience impacts. Over the next 1-2 hours, the river may rise to bankfull and will be deep and fast flowing. The recreational ground at Fleming Park may flood, and the river will be high at Kingfisher Road. Rain caused by Storm Bert will continue until the early hours of Sunday morning (24/11/24). There will then be a temporary respite, before a further 20-30mm is expected. In response to today’s rainfall, the river will remain high overnight but will not cause property flooding. It will be deep and fast flowing. The recreational ground at Fleming Park will experience flooding, and the river will be high at Kingfisher Road. Surface water flooding is possible on roads affecting Chandlers Ford and at Stoneham Way from Chestnut Way to the M27. The heaviest rain has now cleared. Levels will remain high for the next 1 to 2 hours but should begin to fall by 08:00. Rainfall should clear by midday today, and any early afternoon rain will be light. Further heavy rain will continue into the afternoon. If levels continue to rise rapidly, in the next few hours we may issue a Flood Warning for onset of property flooding from the river. Water levels in the Monks Brook are high. Storm Dennis has brought 23mm of rain, which has been recorded at Otterbourne in the last 15 hours. In the next few hours, the river will rise to bank full. It may also flood roads in Chandlers Ford, such as Stoneham Way, from Chestnut Way to the M27. The Rec ground at Fleming Park will also see impacts. Further heavy bursts of rain of up to 20mm are expected over the next 12 hours, which will top up river levels. It is possible that we may issue a Flood Warning for onset of property flooding, at Pine Road, Hursley Road, Mead Road (Chandlers Ford) and at Pennine Way, Skipton Road and Magpie Lane (Eastleigh). It will be deep and fast flowing. Road flooding will affect parts of Chandlers Ford in particular at Stoneham Way from Chestnut Way to the M27. The river will also flood parts of the recreational ground at Fleming Park. Further heavy rain will continue over the next 3 hours. Residents nearest the river should be aware that flooding may occur, especially in Chandlers Ford at Pine Road, Hursley Road, Mead Road and in Eastleigh at Pennine Way, Skipton Road and Magpie Lane.
