Flooding is possible on 07 February 2026 following 24mm of rain on Friday.
Flooding could affect land, gardens, and possibly roads at Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near the Mill Farm and at Sandy Lane. Levels are expected to rise again, as up to 20mm of rain is forecast on Saturday 07/02/2026. Following light showers (7mm) on Sunday, further rain is forecast for Monday and Tuesday. If this is realised, the river will respond again with river levels and flood risk likely to remain into next week.

If as much rain falls as forecast, flooding could affect land, gardens, and possibly roads at Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near the Mill Farm and at Sandy Lane. The river could become very high at St George's Way, Shide. There is further rainfall forecast Friday (06/02/2026) and Saturday (07/02/2026), which means river levels and flood risk are likely to remain high for the next few days.

River levels are expected to rise again, due to the rainfall (20mm) forecast for today 03/02/2026. This may result in river becoming very high at St George's Way, Shide. Rainfall is forecast to continue until 21:00 today, 03/02/2026, before clearing the area. There is potential for further rainfall on Thursday and Friday, if this is realised the river will respond again.

The River Medina is higher than normal, but is now falling following Sunday's rain. Minor flood impacts will continue to affect fields, roads, and gardens at Blackwater, and near Sandy Lane. Only isolated showers are forecast Monday. The river should slowly fall a little further. However, another 20mm of rain is forecast Tuesday. From 09:00 03/02/2026 property flooding could again be possible. Potentially affecting Blackwater Mill buildings, property at Sandy Lane, Blackwater Hollow, Blackwater. Property on the riverbank at St George's Way may also flood. Flooding will also affect near Mill Farm, and fields, roads, and gardens. We are checking rivers for blockages. Activate any flood protection products you may have. A Flood Warning will remain in force for this area while the risk of property flooding continues. At 06:30 the river will become very high at St George's Way, Shide. Rain is forecast to continue until 10:00 Tuesday (27/01/2026), with showers forecast this afternoon and into Wednesday (28/01/2026). River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce in Blackwater by 14:00 27/01/2026.

The water level in the River Medina at Blackwater and Shide is now falling. Tonight, further rainfall (up to 10mm) is expected in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This could cause the river level to increase slightly and may prolong out of bank flooding affecting land, gardens and possibly roads in Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near Mill Farm and at Sandy Lane. The river will be high at St George’s Way. From Monday (06/01/25) onwards, the weather is then relatively dry with only small amounts of rain forecast each day. This will allow the river to recover. We will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. This Flood Alert will be removed by 16:00 on Monday 06/01/2025.

The water level in the River Medina at Blackwater and Shide is high and rising. In the last 11 hours, 23mm of rain has been recorded in Cowes. This is a very large volume in a short period of time. From 06:30 this morning 05/01/2025, out of bank flooding will affect land, gardens and possibly roads at Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near Mill Farm and at Sandy Lane. At 07:00, the river will become very high at St George's Way, Shide. Rain will continue to affect the area over the next 6 hours with up to 10mm expected. Water levels are unlikely to fall until 13:00 05/01/2025 with flood impacts continuing until then. In the next 2 hours we may issue a flood warning for onset of property flooding from the river. We will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. If you have it, we would encourage residents to install flood protection now. This Flood Alert will be updated at 21:00 on Sunday 05/01/2025 or sooner, if we think property flooding will occur.

Out of bank flooding will continue to affect land, gardens and roads at Blackwater, including Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near the Mill Farm, and at Sandy Lane throughout today (27/11/2024). Dry weather is now forecast from today (27/11/2024) until Saturday (30/11/2024). The river is expected to recover to normal levels in the next 24 hours and any ongoing minor flood impacts will reduce. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. Given the situation should improve, this Flood Alert will be removed by 13:00 on Thursday 28/11/2024.

From 04:45 this morning (27/11/24), out of bank flooding will affect land, gardens and possibly roads at Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near the Mill Farm, and at Sandy Lane. By 05:30 the river will become very high at St George's Way, Shide. Rain will continue to impact the area over the next 6 hours with a further 10-15mm forecast. At this time, property flooding is not expected, but much depends upon the intensity of the rain which is still expected to fall. We continue to monitor the forecast. We will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages. Road and land flooding impacts will be more significant at Blackwater. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. This is a very large volume in a short period of time. From 09:00 this morning (28/04/2024), out of bank flooding will affect land, gardens and possibly roads at Blackwater, especially at Blackwater Hollow on the A3020 near the Mill Farm, and at Sandy Lane. At 09:30, the river will become very high at St George's Way, Shide. Further light rain is forecast this morning. Water levels will remain high and rise slightly over the next 2 hours, but should begin to fall by 14:00 today (Sunday 28/04/2024). Property flooding is currently not expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. We will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages. Road and land flooding impacts will be more significant at Blackwater. This is a very large volume in a short period of time, falling on already saturated ground.
