Lukely Brook
The water level in the Lukely Brook at Newport is high and rising. In the last 6 hours 18mm has fallen at Carisbrooke. This is a large volume in a short period of time. Currently, the river is near to bankfull. From 23:00 this evening (25/02/2024) the river may come out of bank affecting land at Vicarage Walk. We are not expecting impacts from the river at Carisbrooke. Further rain is forecast over the next 8 hours. If levels continue to rise, in the next 2 - 3 hours we may issue a Flood Warning, for onset of property flooding directly from the river. Vulnerable areas are Old Westminster Lane, and the Aquatics Centre at Vicarage Walk near Foxes Road. All of our debris screens are clear and are allowing the river to flow freely. Lukely Brook
The water level in the Lukely Brook at Newport is high and rising. In the last 3 hours 18mm of rain has been recorded at Carisbrooke. There is a possibility the river could come out of bank at Foxes Lane and impact the aquatics centre at Vicarage Walk. Our operational contractors have checked the debris screens and the river is flowing freely. However, heavy rain falling on the already saturated Lukely Brook and Gunville stream catchments, has caused the river to rise rapidly. The river will continue to affect the area over the next 4 hours, with up to 5mm of additional rain expected. As a precautionary measure, we encourage residents with properties immediately next to the river at Vicarage Walk to take action to protect property. This Flood Alert will be updated by 15:00 on Friday 5/01/23.
