The water level in the Lukely Brook at Newport is high and rising. In the last 8 hours, 21 mm of rain has been recorded at Carisbrooke. This is a fair amount of rain in a short period of time. Currently, the river bank is full. In the next 30 minutes (from 09:45) it may begin to come out of the bank at Hunnycross Way and Vicarage Walk, causing flooding to footpaths. We are not expecting the river to cause impacts at Carisbrooke. Rain will clear the area by 10:00, although some showers are expected from midday and will continue this afternoon. The river will remain very high over the next 2 hours, but levels should begin to fall around 11:30. We will work to keep the river free of blockages. We will continue to monitor the forecast. Please avoid flooded footpaths at Hunnycross Way. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 16:00 on Saturday 30/01/2021.

In the last 6 hours 25mm of rain has fallen at Carisbrooke. This is close to half a months rain in one day. River Levels in the Lukely Brook are high and continue to rise. All of our grill structures are currently clear and free of debris. The river will be bankfull in most locations. Most of the rain has now cleared the area so water levels will remain high for the next couple of hours before they begin to fall. Further rain is expected Sunday afternoon, but without causing any flooding. Our operational contractors are out in the area making sure the river is kept free of blockages. We continue to monitor levels in the river and our web camera images at grill sites.
We recommend that residents nearest the river take action to protect their property. River level data at Carisbrooke and Hunny Hill can be viewed at www.Gaugemap.co.uk
