Water levels in the Gurnard Luck are high and rising. In the last 24hours, 30mm of rain has been recorded at Cowes. Tomorrow (Monday 17/02/2020) only very small amounts of rain are forecast and the situation should improve. We continue to monitor the forecast. Gurnard Luck
Water levels in the Gurnard Luck remain elevated at each high tide, but have not caused impacts since yesterday morning. Throughout today, Saturday (21/12/2019), further heavy rain is forecast with up to 25mm expected. If this volume of rain affects the river, and falls near to time of high water at Cowes which is expected today at 19:34 and tomorrow morning at 08:18, then for 2 hours over high tide, the river will cause garden flooding at Marsh Road. From tomorrow (Sunday 22/12/2019), the rainfall forecast improves for a few days. This should give the river a chance to recover and further impacts will not be expected. For the next 2 high tides, the river will be much higher than normal, so please remain prepared for some flood impacts (if only minor) over the next 24 hours. We continue to monitor the forecast. Keep away from the river at high tide, as water could be deep and fast flowing. This Flood Alert will be updated by 11:00 22/12/2019.
