River Stour
River levels remain very high as a result of recent heavy rainfall. A tidal surge at Dover of up to 0.5m is also possible during the next high tide at 2am on Friday 1 March 2024. Flooding of property, roads and low lying land is possible overnight from 3am. We expect flooding to affect some properties around Grove Ferry and Plucks Gutter. Further spells of rain are forecast to continue on Thursday evening and during Friday 1 March. This will maintain high levels in the Great Stour into the weekend but reducing tide levels should lessen the impact. We are closely monitoring the situation and continue to operate Stonar Cut to reduce river levels. This message will be updated by 10am on Friday 1 March 2024, or as the situation changes.

River levels remain very high as a result of recent heavy rainfall and this afternoon’s high tide. Flooding of property, roads and low lying land is possible overnight from 2am on Thursday 29 February 2024. We expect flooding to affect some properties around Grove Ferry, Plucks Gutter and low lying land around Westbere. Further spells of rain are forecast from Wednesday evening, continuing into Friday evening, 1 March 2024. This will maintain high levels in the Great Stour into the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation and continue to operate Stonar Cut to minimise the impact. This message will be updated by 10am on Thursday 29 February 2024, or as the situation changes.

River levels have risen and are expected to rise further as a result of recent heavy rainfall and this afternoon’s high tide. Flooding of property and low lying land is expected from 1:30pm this afternoon, Wednesday 28 February 2024. We expect flooding to affect some properties around Grove Ferry and Plucks Gutter and low lying land around Westbere. Further rainfall is forecast from this evening and again on Thursday 29 February. This will maintain high levels in the Great Stour into the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation and continue to operate Stonar Cut to minimise the impact. This Flood Warning has been updated because flooding is expected today between 12:00 Noon on 14/12/2023 and 03:00 PM on 14/12/2023 River levels are high due to heavy rainfall earlier this week. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Stour, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around some properties around Grove Ferry and Plucks Gutter. River levels in the Great Stour are expected to peak today, with no further rain forecast. We will continue to monitor levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. For information high tide at Dover is expected at 11:30 AM with the forecast level of 2.66mAOD. This message will be updated by 10:00 AM on 14/12/2023, or as the situation changes.

River levels in the Great Stour are expected to continue to rise through the night due to the recent rainfall since Sunday. We will continue to monitor levels closely.
