River levels are high but stabilising as a result of heavy rainfall. The risk of flooding remains. Flooding is possible to properties in and around Staplehurst and Chickenden Lane. Peak levels will be similar to the flooding on 28 December 2020. No further significant rainfall is forecast until Saturday 16 January 2021. Levels are falling near Smarden but we expect river levels to remain high, rising in the lower Beult until 11am today, Friday 15 January 2021. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are actively monitoring the situation and are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the river. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers between Smarden and Yalding, which may be flooded. Property flooding is possible around Smarden and around Chickenden Lane. Peak levels are expected to be similar to those seen on 28 December 2020.
