Flood Warning Info - West Brook at Hampton

Following heavy overnight rainfall on wet catchments, river levels have risen sharply in the Westbrook. The rain will continue till 06:30 this morning, after which showers are forecast. It is possible that there may be property flooding in the area around Bentley Avenue. This may occur as soon as 06:30 soon after. There may be flooding of low lying land and roads. At this stage more extensive flooding is not expected. However, we will continue to monitor rainfall and river levels and will update this message by 14:00 today, 28 January 2021, or sooner if required. We are monitoring the situation and have teams patrolling the catchment and debris clearing screens to ensure the free flow of water. Members of the public should avoid flood water and stay aware for more information. Should your property be in the named area, you should consider putting into action any flood plan. Avoid driving in flooded roads where ever possible, as bow waves may cause property flooding.

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall on the West Brook following heavy rainfall overnight last night and throughout today, Thursday 14 January. The risk of flooding to properties on and around Bentley Avenue is reducing. However the risk of flooding to roads and low lying land remains and we expect rivers levels to remain high until tomorrow morning. Further light rainfall is forecast this evening. Tomorrow, Friday 15 January, will remain dry but a further band of rainfall is forecast for Saturday 16 January. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers. Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and move family, pets and cars to safety. River levels are rising quickly as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Flooding of property, roads and low lying land is expected between 8am and 1pm today, Thursday 14 January. We expect flooding to affect properties In and around Bentley Avenue. Peak river levels could be similar to that last seen on 27 December 2020. Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue during the day and we expect river levels to continue to rise until around midday today Thursday 14 January. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers and we are liaising with emergency services and our partners. River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall. Flooding of property/roads and low lying land is expected between 9 am and 11am today, Sunday 27/12/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for properties on and around Bentley Avenue. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. River levels have now begun to fall following the heavy rainfall experienced yesterday. Water levels in the West Brook are currently below the level we would expect to directly contribute to property flooding, and the flooding conditions experienced over recent hours should now be improving. The rainfall has cleared the area and we do not expect any worsening of the situation at this current time. However, flooding to land and roads is expected to continue into Friday morning. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely from our incident room and have been working closely with our partners. Please continue to remain safe in this area and avoid contact with flood waters. We currently anticipate that this Flood Warning will be removed later this morning unless the situation changes, this should happen by 10am on 6 March.
