River levels are high and forecast to rise further on the River Darwen due to heavy rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Darwen. Flooding is expected at locations on Higher Walton Road backing onto the River Darwen, close to Cann Bridge in Darwen Street and Higher Walton Mills between 04:30 PM and 07:00 PM on 23/07/2023. Further rainfall is forecast this afternoon. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area. We will continue to monitor levels closely.
