Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Douglas, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around low lying properties on the right bank of the Douglas, downstream of the Canal Bridge including Burnside, Bankside, Northdene, Southdene, Westdene, Broadmede and Greenfield. Further flooding is expected throughout the evening as river levels are expected to remain high due to heavy rainfall. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and checking rivers for blockages. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. River levels are rising at the Parbold river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is expected between 18:30 today and 12:30 tomorrow, 21/01/21. Flooding is expected to affect low lying properties on the right bank of the Douglas, downstream of the Canal Bridge including Burnside, Bankside, Northdene, Southdene, Westdene, Broadmede and Greenfield Further heavy rainfall is forecast until tomorrow . We expect river levels to remain high until 12:30 on 21/01/21. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are carrying out weed screen cleaning. Our Incident room is open and we are monitoring the levels. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
