The Garstang Flood Storage Basin operated, but has now emptied. The Catterall Flood Storage basin was also operated, but did not fill significantly.
Further rainfall is expected from Friday evening. We will continue to monitor the situation and this alert may be re-issued.

River levels are rising at the Catterall river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is possible from 21:00 tonight, 19/02/20 affecting low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and the Catterall Basin will possibly operate.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Catterall river gauge as a result of Storm Ciara. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas which may be affected include low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses.
Strong winds are forecast to continue throughout today and tomorrow with showers also likely. River levels are falling, but still pose a flood risk.
We are closely monitoring the situation, both flood storage basins within the River Wyre catchment have been operated.
Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid contact with flood water.

We expect river levels to remain high until early afternoon on Sunday 09/02/20.
