River levels have risen at the Catterall river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is expected/possible between today, 20/02/20. low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses. Further light rainfall is forecast over the next 2 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until This evening on 20/02/20. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is possible from 21:00 tonight, 19/02/20 affecting low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and the Catterall Basin will possibly operate. River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Catterall river gauge as a result of Storm Ciara. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas which may be affected include low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses. Strong winds are forecast to continue throughout today and tomorrow with showers also likely. River levels are falling, but still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation, both flood storage basins within the River Wyre catchment have been operated. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid contact with flood water. Consequently, flooding of property/roads and farmland is possible on Sunday 09/02/20 to low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham We expect river levels to remain high until early afternoon on Sunday 09/02/20. We are closely monitoring the situation in our Incident Room. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing weed screens. Low lying land and roads in Wyre and the Fylde including Preesall, St. Michaels, Great Eccleston, Kirkham, Marton and Lytham. High river levels are possible on the Rivers Wyre, Cocker, Pilling Water, Main Drain, Liggard Brook, Dow Brook, Inskip Brook including their tributaries and other smaller watercourses are at risk. Further rainfall is forecast overnight. We are closely monitoring the situation. River levels continue to fall following recent heavy rainfall. Garstang flood storage basin has been emptied and Catterall flood storage basin will continue to be emptied over the next couple of days. We are continuing to pump flood water from affected communities and Environment Agency staff are in the area. We will continue to monitor the situation.

River levels are slowly reducing following yesterday’s heavy rainfall. Garstang and Catterall flood storage basins were operated. Garstang basin has been emptied and Catterall basin will continue to be emptied over the next two to three days. We are continuing to pump flood water from affected communities and Environment Agency staff are in the area. We will continue to monitor the situation.

River levels remain high following yesterday’s heavy rainfall. The Garstang and Catterall flood basins have been operated and will be emptied throughout the course of the day. We are continuing to pump flood water from affected communities and Environment Agency staff will be in the area over the coming days. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Lower River Wyre and Main Dyke
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected across parts of Lancashire on Wednesday evening before gradually easing overnight. The rain will clear eastwards during the early hours of Thursday morning. There remains some uncertainty with regards to the exact location of the heaviest rain. River levels have risen slightly throughout today and will rise again this evening as further rain falls. River levels are expected to peak later on Thursday morning. We will continue to monitor the situation. Surface water is affecting roads throughout the catchment.
