River levels remain high following rainfall associated with Storm Babet, and further rainfall throughout Tuesday 24th October. Catchments are expected to react and river levels to remain high throughout the night and into Wednesday 25th October. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Heavy rain is currently falling in the Bain catchment and will continue throughout today, Friday 20 October. This is causing the River Waring to rise and is forecast to continue to rise through the day. Low lying areas near to the River Waring are already flooded and we now expect properties immediately upstream of Stanhope Road in Horncastle to be affected this morning onwards. Further heavy rainfall is forecast for today and therefore river levels will remain high. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the emergency services and council. We will be closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated online and on Floodline this afternoon if the situation changes.

Heavy rain has fallen in the River Bain catchment, with further rain forecast later today. Levels in the River Bain are rising, and are expected to continue to rise throughout today, Saturday 6th February. We expect the river to peak in the early hours of the morning on Sunday 7th February. The rising river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads, and we now expect properties near the River Waring immediately upstream of Stanhope Road to be affected from the evening on Saturday 6th February onwards. Low lying properties near the River Waring are most at risk. Stay safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water.
