Storm Henk has brought heavy rain in the River Steeping catchment, which has fallen onto already saturated ground. This has caused the River Steeping to rise. Low lying areas near to the River Steeping are already flooded. Further rainfall is forecast for overnight tonight (Thursday 4th Jan) into tomorrow morning which will cause river levels to remain high. Properties in Firsby, close to the Wold Drain are most at risk. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the emergency services and council. This is causing the River Steeping to rise, and is forecast to continue to rise through tonight and into tomorrow. We are issuing this Flood Warning proactively to allow people time to take action. Low lying areas near to the River Steeping are already flooded and we now expect properties to be affected at some point during the night. Properties in Firsby, close to the Wold Drain, are expected to be affected first. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water.
