Flood Alert issued on 26 Dec 2017 09:38
River Rase, River Ancholme
Over night we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Rase and Ancholme areas. This means that the Rivers Rase and Ancholme are now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river during today. We expect the river to remain high throughout Tuesday (Boxing Day) and for the coming days. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties isn't likely and therefore flood warnings are not expected to be issued at this time. During Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning further heavy rainfall is expected. This is likely to lead to river levels rising again. The confidence in the amount of rainfall is low but some rain is expected to keep river levels elevated. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for and clearing blockages in this location. This message will be updated later this evening as the situation changes.
