The heavy rainfall that fell throughout Thursday and Friday has caused river levels to rise in the River Ancholme catchment. No rainfall is forecast for Sunday 10th November, however further showers are possible in the next few days. River levels will remain high throughout the next few days and could rise again later this afternoon due the effect of tide lock. This is where the River Ancholme is unable to discharge into the Humber Estuary. We are aware of a breach on the left bank of the North Kelsey Beck and we are actively monitoring the breach location. We are working to develop a plan to pump the water back into the surrounding river channels. It may be several days before levels in the River Ancholme fall sufficiently enough for the water to be pumped back successfully into the rivers. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers. This message will be updated as the situation changes.

River Ancholme
Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Ancholme areas. This means that the rivers are now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river from this afternoon Saturday 26 October onwards. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days with further rain forecast during Saturday. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties isn't likely and therefore flood warnings are not expected to be issued at this time. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated during Saturday evening or as the situation changes.
