Flood Alert issued on 1 Oct 2019 18:42
The Wash
High Tides and stormy conditions are forecast moving down the East Coast. This will lead to unusually high tide levels along the tidal River Witham in and around Boston. The high tides combined with strong winds are expected to result in large waves and possible seepage through the sea defences. The time of the next high water of concern is from 09:30 on Wednesday 02 October 2019, however conditions may apply 2 to 4 hours either side of high tide. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties isn’t likely and flood warnings are not expected to be issued at this point. We are monitoring tide levels, have staff in the field checking our defences and closing tidal gates where required. This message will be updated as the situation changes

The Wash
Saturday evening's high tide (at 19:45) has now passed and water levels along the East Coast are returning to normal along the tidal River Witham and the Haven in Boston. The high tide levels may have resulted in seepage and water coming through manhole covers or unsecured flap valves causing localised pooling of water behind the defences. Low lying coastal land and roads may have been affected. If water levels are high please continue to avoid using low lying coastal footpaths near beaches or promenades and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads, as sea spray and waves could be dangerous.
