This flood warning remains in force as strong easterly winds and spring high tides continue to bring a risk of wave overtopping and spray at Sandsend. This is forecast between 16:45 and 19:15 during the high tide on Sunday 18th March. Members of the public are advised to take care in the area due to the risk of increased wave heights, windblown spray and debris during high water. Conditions are forecast to improve on Monday with wind speeds easing and with a more northerly direction. We will continue to monitor the situation.

This flood warning is in force during the afternoon high tide on Saturday 17th March and the morning high tide on Sunday 18th March. Strong to gale force onshore winds will bring the risk of wave overtopping and windblown spray at Sandsend. This is forecast between 16:15 and 18:45 on Saturday, and between 04:15 and 07:00 on Sunday. Members of the public are advised to use caution in the area due to the risk of increased wave heights, windblown spray and debris during high water. Strong to gale force onshore winds will bring the risk of wave overtopping and windblown spray at Sandsend. This is forecast between 16:00 and 18:00 on Friday, and between 04:30 and 06:15 on Saturday. Members of the public are advised to use caution in the area due to the risk of increased wave heights, windblown spray and debris during high water. Further warnings or alerts may be required over the weekend period due to unsettled weather and spring tides. This Flood Warning has been issued due to forecast overtopping and wave-blown spray in and around Sandsend as a result of the strong easterly winds. Overtopping and windblown spray are expected through the afternoon and evening of Friday 2nd March, but the particular time of concern is between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Conditions will be similar to those experienced on the last few tides. Roads and footpaths near to the coast continue to be effected by windblown spray and debris as a result of wave action, and members of the public are advised to use considerable caution in these areas. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message accordingly.

This flood warning has been issued for the evening high tide on Friday 3rd February between 18:00 and 19:00. A combination of high astronomical tides, wave action and onshore wind direction is expected to generate some overtopping of waves and spray between these times. Waves are not expected to be as large as recent days, however a more easterly wind direction may result in spray reaching the road or adjacent buildings. Improving weather conditions and falling astronomical tides results in reduced coastal flood risk over the coming days after the high tide this evening.
