The current level at Cawood is 7.2m, and will continue to rise slowly through Monday and into Tuesday 22/02/22. No further rainfall is expected today, and river levels on the Wharfe are approaching their peak. However the input from the Ouse is continuing to rise as the peak has not yet reached York. This Flood Alert remains in force as the River Ouse remains high as a result of heavy rainfall in the Dales catchments over the last few days. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We expect the river level at the Viking recorder in York to continue to fall slowly during Thursday 5th November. Please avoid the paths, cycle-paths, and low-lying roads and car-parks alongside the river in York and nearby villages and do not drive into flood water. The Foss Barrier is in operation and our incident response staff are checking other defences and monitoring the forecasts. No further significant rainfall is expected over the next few days. The river level at Cawood is currently 7.2m and stable, but levels may rise a little further with the high tide this evening 4/11/20 from 21:00. The current level at the York Viking Recorder is 4.1m and will remain around this level during Wednesday 4/11/20, with levels forecast to fall slowly later in the day. The level at Naburn Lock is currently 3.5m and will remain high during Wednesday. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers in the vicinity of Acaster Selby. This Flood Warning has been issued as the River Ouse is continuing to rise in response to heavy rainfall in the Dales catchments over the last few days and high tides. The river level at Cawood is currently 7m, and whilst it has peaked with the tide, river levels upstream at the Viking recorder in York remain high. The current level at the York Viking Recorder is 4.2m and is expected to peak between 4.2 and 4.3m in the early hours of Wednesday 4th November. Therefore, the Ouse at Cawood may rise further into tomorrow morning, Wednesday 4th November. The level at Naburn Lock continues to rise and could reach up to 3.3m overnight. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers in the vicinity of Acaster Selby.
