River Esk
Areas across the River Esk and neighbouring watercourses may be affected by thunderstorms and heavy showers overnight, Sunday 18th and into Monday 19th of June.
It is not possible to predict the precise location, therefore, we are taking the precautionary measure by issuing this flood alert, as watercourses could react very quickly if the thunderstorms occur in this area, as there’s a risk of localised surface water flooding and flooding from smaller rivers affecting roads, homes and businesses.
Our staff are monitoring the situation and our field teams are working with partners to ensure that defences and trash screens are clear of obstructions.
At the moment we do not expect to issue any Flood Warnings, but that situation could change rapidly with the weather, and we may not have time to issue any flood warnings before the onset of any flooding. Please stay aware of your surroundings and do not put yourself at risk. Be prepared to act on your flood plan.
This message will be updated by 09:00 on 19/06/23, or as the situation changes.
