We are issuing the flood alert for the Upper River Nidd due to forecast heavy rain associated with Storm Ciara. Widespread heavy rain accompanied by high winds are forecast from Saturday evening, 08/02/2020 and overnight into Sunday. River levels are forecast to start responding by 0400 hours on Sunday, 09/02/2020 at Gouthwaite and are expected to peak mid-afternoon. Levels on the River Nidd are expected to rise overnight into Wednesday 11th December in response to heavy rainfall on Tuesday evening. Areas most at risk include Knaresborough between 3am and 8am, and low lying land and roads near watercourses. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast.
