The River Nene will remain high throughout today Sunday, 31st January and into next week as the Washlands continue to discharge. The high river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads. We expect flooding to affect isolated properties near the river Nene from Cogenhoe to Great Doddington. Low lying properties near the river are most at risk. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Our staff are out in the area to check the flood defences, clear blockages, and assist the emergency services and council. Over the past week we have seen heavy rain over the river Nene catchment. The river Nene is now rising and is forecast to continue to rise throughout tonight 29th January 2021. The rising river levels have already caused flooding of low lying land and roads. We now expect isolated properties near the river Nene from Cogenhoe to Great Doddington to be affected from this evening and overnight tonight, Thursday 29th January onwards. Low lying properties near the river are most at risk. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings. Please avoid contact with flood water. Heavy rain has fallen on the River Nene catchment over the last week causing rivers levels to rise, and Northampton Washlands to store water. The Northampton Washlands are now emptying and the water levels have peaked upstream but continue to remain high along the main stretch of the River Nene. The rising river levels have caused flooding of low lying land and roads, and we expect properties and villages between Cogenhoe to Great Doddington to continue to be affected today, Tuesday, 29th December and for the next couple of days.
