River Tyne
River levels have risen on the River Tyne at Ovingham as a result of persistent heavy rainfall caused by Storm Ciara. Property flooding is expected between 13:00 and 19:00 today, 09/02/2020. Areas most at risk are properties and low lying areas around Ovingham and Tyne Riverside Country Park including The Old School House, Burnside Close, Bleach Green Farm Cottage, Dene House, The Bridge End Inn, Greenhaugh House and Tyne House. Please avoid contact with flood water and move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety.
Rainfall is forecast to clear from lunchtime today, 09/02/2020. We expect river levels on the River Tyne to continue to respond into this afternoon in response to the heavy rainfall and remain high for the rest of the day. We are closely monitoring the situation.
