River Aller
River levels are forecast to rise above Flood Warning threshold as a result of the overnight heavy rain brought by Storm Bella. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected in the early hours of 27/12/20, and riverside properties are at risk too: such as property at Lower Allerford, Piles Mill and Higher Allerford road. Given the heavy rain forecast over the next few hours, peak river levels are expected between 03:00 and 04:00, resulting in high flows similar to Wednesday, 23/12/20. Our incident response staff have been out clearing weed screens and we are closely monitoring the situation. Please consider installing property flood resilience equipment and other flood plan measures, including avoiding low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. This message will be updated on 27/12/20, or as the situation changes.

Flood Warning issued on 16 Feb 2020 09:08
River Aller
Storm Dennis has brought widespread and heavy rainfall throughout Saturday and Sunday morning, particularly over the high ground of Exmoor. Catchments are saturated, and all rivers in the West Somerset area remain highly responsive to rainfall. Following a heavier band of rain in the early hours of Sunday, the River Aller has risen again above Flood Warning level but has now peaked. This continues to bring a risk of flooding to Piles Mill on Sunday, 16/02/20, and potentially to vulnerable properties adjacent to and upstream of the Packhorse Bridge. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking gullies and local flood defences. Incident teams are monitoring river levels very closely. Please be aware in case further flood warnings are issued this weekend. This message will be updated tomorrow, Monday, 17/02/20, or as the situation changes.

Flood Warning issued on 15 Feb 2020 15:59
River Aller
Storm Dennis is now impacting the South West and is forecast to bring strong winds and a significant amount of rainfall over this weekend, particularly over high ground such as Exmoor. Catchments are saturated, and all rivers in the West Somerset area are rising steadily in response to the heavy and persistent rainfall that has already fallen today. Consequently, flooding is forecast from 16:00 today, Saturday 15/02/20 at Piles Mill. We expect river levels to rise further over the next 12 hours, possibly also affecting vulnerable properties adjacent to and upstream of the Packhorse Bridge. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking gullies and local flood defences. Incident teams are monitoring river levels very closely. Please be aware in case further flood warnings are issued this weekend. This message will be updated tomorrow, Sunday 16/02/20, or as the situation changes.
