This is a flood warning update. River levels are on the Bristol Avon at Melksham and Limpley stoke have peaked and are slowly stabilising; they will continue to remain high through Friday the 29/03/2024 until late this evening. This flood warning will remain in place throughout today. Residents are urged to remain vigilant to the high river levels and localised flooding in the Melksham and Limpley Stoke this area. Scattered showers are expected today and tomorrow but the outlook is looking more positive as we expect river levels to fall by the close of the 30th March.

The River Avon levels are continuing to rise at Bradford on Avon in response to the continued wet weather falling on very saturated catchments. Approximately 20-30mm has fallen over the last 24 hours over the upper Bristol Avon catchment. The River Avon is expected to peak between 3:00am and 6:00am on Friday the 29th March 2024. Further rain is expected tonight, and into Friday but should be smaller totals. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Bristol Avon, include properties at Melksham and Limpley Stoke.
