The level in the Westover Drain has risen slightly to 8.27 m today, Saturday 7 February 2026. The Westover Trading Estate access road is flooded, and estate businesses will flood if water levels reach 8.35m AOD. Other areas at risk, if levels continue to rise, include Cheapside, Whatley Mews, Parrett Close, Bow Street and Moor Park. For the latest river and drain levels refer to https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels. We are unable to pump due to high river levels but will start when those conditions allow. Similarly, we will operate the River Sowy (Parrett Relief Channel) as conditions allow. Isolated showers are forecast for today, Saturday, and for Sunday, but the rainfall totals for the weekend are expected to be lower than recent days. Catchments are saturated and rivers are very responsive to rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation and have been checking debris screens, flood banks and spillways. After a drier but showery day today, Thursday, a band of sustained rain, heavy at times, is forecast this evening and into early Friday. The catchments are saturated, therefore rivers are forecast to rise again, though not as much as on Tuesday. Any response from the rivers to tonight’s rainfall will occur tomorrow, Friday, as the peak passes down through the system.

Water levels are now slowly falling on the moors outside Langport. The current level in the Westover Pumping Station Drain is 8.05m. The southern end of Westover Trading Estate Road will flood when this level exceeds 8.10m, and properties on the Trading Estate flood if water levels reach 8.35m AOD. Other areas at risk if levels rise further include Cheapside, Whatley Mews, Parrett Close, Bow Street and Moor Park.
Scattered showers are forecast today, Wednesday, together with a band of light rain on Thursday morning. We expect dry weather to return for the remainder of the week. We are currently pumping at Westover and Huish Episcopi and will continue to maximise pumping activities, to clear the moors, as far as river levels allow.
Please be mindful of weather conditions, local water levels, and flood plans. Do not attempt to drive or walk through flood water. Please refer to @TravelSomerset for information on closed roads.

Water levels have gradually risen above 8.10m AOD on the moors outside Langport and are expected to remain high for the next few days.
The southern end of Westover Trading Estate Road is flooded and properties at the Trading Estate flood if water levels reach 8.35m AOD.
Other areas at risk if levels continue to rise include Cheapside, Whatley Mews, Parrett Close, Bow Street and Moor Park. For up-to-date water levels visit the gauge section of our website (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/station/3065).
We are currently unable to pump at Westover or nearby stations due to the high river levels, but will commence as soon as river levels allow.
Further showers are forecast on Tuesday 12/12/23, before drier weather returns for the rest of the week.
We continue to monitor rainfall, river levels and flood defence assets.
