Water levels in Saltmoor and Northmoor remain high today, Saturday 7 February. The drain level at Northmoor pumping station is 3.87m and at Northmoor Main Drain Remote is 4.49m. The level in Currymoor is rising slightly, and still very high. Athelney spillway continues to run into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. We hope to do more flow improvements along Northmoor Main Drain to maximise pumping into the Parrett. The River Tone level remains too high to pump at Currymoor but will commence when levels allow. The River Sowy (Parrett Relief Channel) will operate when conditions allow. Isolated showers are forecast today, Saturday 7 February, and Sunday, but the rainfall totals for the weekend are forecast lower than recent days. Catchments are saturated and rivers very responsive to rainfall. We are monitoring the situation and checking floodbanks and spillways. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions. Water levels in Saltmoor and Northmoor remain high today, Friday 6 February. The drain level at Northmoor pumping station is 3.83m and at Northmoor Main Drain Remote is 4.47m. The level in Currymoor is stable, though still very high. Athelney spillway continues to run into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. Works are ongoing to improve the flow along Northmoor Main Drain to maximise pumping into the Parrett. The River Tone level remains too high to pump at Currymoor but will commence when river levels allow. The River Sowy (Parrett Relief Channel) will operate when conditions allow. Showers are forecast for today, with a band of rain expected overnight. Further showers are forecast over the weekend and into Monday. Catchments are saturated and rivers are very responsive to rainfall. We are monitoring the situation closely and checking floodbanks and spillways. Water levels in Saltmoor and Northmoor remain high today, Thursday 5th February. The drain level at Northmoor pumping station is 3.72 m and at North Moor Main Drain Remote is 4.48 m. The level in Currymoor is stable, though still very high. Athelney spillway is still running into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. We are undertaking works to improve the flow along Northmoor Main Drain to maximise pumping into the Parrett. The River Tone level is still too high to pump at Currymoor. We will start pumping here once river levels allow. We operate the River Sowy (Parrett Relief Channel) as conditions allow. Bands of rain, heavy at times, are forecast for today, Thursday 5th February, and into tomorrow. Catchments are saturated and rivers are expected to be very responsive to the rainfall. Athelney spillway is still running into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. The River Tone level is still too high for pumping at Currymoor. Sustained, moderate rain is forecast throughout today, Tuesday. Showers are forecast for Friday night and on Saturday. Rainfall will mainly be light but there is potential for heavier downpours. Water levels remain high and expected to continue to cause flooding. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads around Moorland including Horlake, Saltmoor, Fordgate and Chadmead. The level in Currymoor has stopped rising and is currently stable, though still very high and may rise further as a result of tonight’s rain. Athelney spillway is still running into Saltmoor and Northmoor. However we are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor stations and additional high volume mobile pumps are now running at both locations also, which will help to slow the rate of rise of floodwater. A band of sustained rain, heavy at times, is forecast overnight. The catchments are saturated, so rivers are forecast to rise again, though not as much as on Tuesday. Any response from the rivers to tonight’s rainfall will occur tomorrow, Friday, as the peak passes down through the system. Act on your flood plan if you have one. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads around Moorland including Horlake, Saltmoor, Fordgate and Chadmead. The level in Currymoor has stopped rising and is currently stable, though still very high and may rise further as a result of tonights rain. Athelney spillway is still running into Saltmoor and Northmoor. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor stations and additional high volume mobile pumps are now running at Northmoor, which will help to gradually slow the rate of rise of floodwater. Throughout the day isolated showers are forecast, with a band of more sustained rain this evening through to the early hours of Friday morning. Act on your flood plan if you have one. The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station remains stable at approximately 7.10 m. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway when this level exceeds 7.45 m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 6.85 m and is falling by approximately 6 mm per hour. Athelney spillway stopped running last Saturday. We are currently pumping at Currymoor, Saltmoor and Northmoor pumping stations to remove as much water from the moors as river and drain levels allow, and water levels across these moors are all falling. River Parrett levels are being managed with the Sowy relief channel, in order to assist pumping at these stations. The forecast for the next 5 days shows very little if any rain, and we expect the situation on the moors to continue improving this week. We are monitoring the situation very closely, and staff are also checking the condition of flood banks, spillways and weed screens. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 6.98 m and is falling by approximately 6 mm per hour. Athelney spillway stopped running on Saturday, although the water level in Currymoor remains close to the spillway height. We are currently pumping at Currymoor, Saltmoor and Northmoor pumping stations to remove as much water from the moors as river and drain levels allow. The water levels in Northmoor and Saltmoor are falling, and the forecast for the next 5 days shows no rain. The situation across the moors is being continually monitored. River Parrett levels are being managed with the Sowy relief channel, in order to assist Currymoor, Northmoor and Saltmoor pumping. The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.18 m and falling slowly. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45 m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.13 m and is falling by approximately 6 mm per hour. Athelney spillway is no longer running, although the water level in Currymoor is still very close to the spillway height. We are currently pumping at Currymoor, Saltmoor and Northmoor pumping stations to remove as much water from the moors as river and drain levels allow. The water level in Northmoor is falling. Very little rain is forecast for the next 5 days and we expect river levels to continue falling during this period. The situation across the moors is being continually monitored. River Parrett levels are being managed with the Sowy relief channel to assist Currymoor, Northmoor and Saltmoor pumping. The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is stable at 7.30 m. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45 m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.27 m and is falling by approximately 6 mm per hour. Athelney spillway continues to run into Saltmoor and Northmoor at this time. We are currently pumping at Currymoor, Saltmoor and Northmoor pumping stations to remove as much water from the moors as river and drain levels allow. The water level in Northmoor is falling slowly. Predominantly dry weather is forecast for the next 5 days. The River Tone level at Currymoor will be affected as water is pumped off the moor and it will either remain stable or fall. This is being continually monitored. River Parrett levels are being managed with the Sowy relief channel to assist Currymoor, Northmoor and Saltmoor pumping.
