Flood Warning issued on 17 Feb 2022 16:51
Bristol Channel
Storm Eunice is expected to bring severe gale force winds across the Somerset coast early Friday and into Saturday, coinciding with spring tides. We are expecting this to cause very large and powerful waves along the coast. Forecast high water is 07:45 on 18/2/22 with a level of 6.7 mAOD and a Force 8 South-west wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Hinkley Point; mAOD is height above average sea level. Flooding is possible two to three hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are the coastline between South Esplanade and Berrow including Margaret Crescent, Pier Street, Abingdon Street, The Esplanade, College Street and Regent Street. Strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day. Please be careful, especially along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and stay aware in case further warnings are issued. Our incident response staff are closing flood gates and we are closely monitoring the situation. We will update this message as the situation changes and new information is available.
