River levels remain high following the heavy rain on Sunday 24/11/2024. Flooding of roads and low lying land is possible on Sunday evening and overnight into Monday. Property flooding is not expected. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Cannington Brook, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Huntworth Business Park Rhyne, Stockmoor Rhyne, Hamp Brook and Durleigh Brook in Bridgwater, Cannington Brook at Cannington, Combwich Brook at Combwich and the Stogursey area. Light rain is forecast to clear the area around 10PM on Sunday, leaving a predominantly dry overnight period. We are closely monitoring the situation and Field Teams have been clearing debris from weed screens and checking rivers for blockages. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Cannington Brook, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Huntworth Business Park Rhyne, Stockmoor Rhyne, Hamp Brook and Durleigh Brook in Bridgwater, Cannington Brook at Cannington, Combwich Brook at Combwich and the Stogursey area. Further flooding is possible throughout the morning as river levels are high and forecast to rise further due to heavy rainfall. The river levels on the Cannington Brook are rising due to significant rainfall during today, Sunday, 25/02/2024. There is an immediate risk of flooding of low lying land and roads. No property flooding is expected at this time. Flooding may affect locations near the Cannington Brook, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Huntworth Business Park Rhyne, Stockmoor Rhyne, Hamp Brook and Durleigh Brook in Bridgwater, Cannington Brook at Cannington, Combwich Brook at Combwich and the Stogursey area. The rainfall is expected to continue into this evening until around 11pm tonight. Drier weather is then forecast for Monday and Tuesday. We continue to monitor the situation, and staff are checking the condition of flood banks, spillways and weed screens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and do not walk, cycle or drive through flood water. Areas most at risk include Huntworth Business Park Rhyne, Stockmoor Rhyne, Hamp Brook and Durleigh Brook in Bridgwater, Cannington Brook at Cannington, Combwich Brook at Combwich and the Stogursey area. Further showers are forecast for Friday morning. We will continue to monitor the river levels and checking rivers for blockages and clearing debris from weed screens. Flooding is possible for these locations this evening. Further rainfall is forecast this evening. This is expected to clear the area by midnight, but river levels may remain high until tomorrow morning. Friday and the weekend are forecast to be largely dry.
