The river levels on the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton and the River Tone at Greenham peaked earlier today and are now below flood levels. The River Tone at Bishops Hull has also just peaked and is now just starting to fall but the level still remains high and this flood alert remains in force for the rest of today. There is a possibility of flooding on roads near Ham and Creech St Michael. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may be bankfull. The rainfall has now passed out of the area and we expect much drier weather for the rest of Sunday and for Monday and Tuesday. We will continue to monitor the situation and checking rivers, debris screens and bridges for blockages. Please stay aware of alert updates. River levels on the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton and the River Tone at Greenham are rising due to the heavy rain that has been falling this morning, Sunday 15/03/20. The catchments are very wet and, together with the rain, this has caused levels to rise to Flood Alert level for the upper areas of the River Tone Catchment. There is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance and Bradford on Tone, and later today for roads near Ham and Creech St Michael. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may be bankfull. The current band of rain is expected to continue until about midday today, and to be followed by drier weather with occasional showers this afternoon. This will give way to dry weather on Sunday night, and throughout Monday and most of Tuesday. We are closely monitoring the situation and checking rivers, debris screens and bridges for blockages. The level on the River Tone at Bishops Hull and the Halse water remains high and this flood alert remains in force with the continued risk of the flooding of roads and farmland. The River Tone level upstream at Greenham and the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton both peaked this morning and now fallen. The flooding of property is not expected but roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road may still be affected by floodwater. The rainfall has now passed out of the area and drier conditions are forecast for tonight and Friday, 06/03/20. We will continue to monitor the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures. River levels have risen at the Milverton river gauge as a result of the rainfall this morning. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, 05/03/20. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bankfull. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Further showers are forecast to continue this morning and into the early afternoon before becoming drier for the rest of Thursday and into Friday. We expect river levels to continue to rise and peak this evening. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded and refer to local authority website for local road closures and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. River levels throughout the Tone catchment are high as a result of heavy rain last night. Consequently, flooding of roads and low lying land is possible throughout Saturday, 29/02/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bank-full. Windy conditions and wintry showers are forecast for Saturday and Sunday, and as such we expect river levels to peak today and begin to fall. Levels in many cases are still high however and we are monitoring the situation closely. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. This message will be updated on Sunday 01/03/2020.

River levels are forecast to rise at the Greenham river gauge this evening as a result of heavy and persistent rainfall earlier today. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible in the early hours of Saturday morning, 29/02/2020. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bank-full. We expect river levels to rise overnight and remain high throughout Saturday. We are monitoring the situation closely. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. Catchments are saturated and rivers in the upper and mid Tone catchment are responding to yesterday's rain, and the current rainfall. There is a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads near Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech Saint Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may become bank-full. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking flood defences. Incident teams are monitoring river levels closely. Catchments are saturated and all rivers are likely to respond to this rainfall. Rivers in the upper and mid Tone catchment are starting to respond to the current rainfall and there is a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads near Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech Saint Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may become bankfull. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking flood defences. Incident teams are monitoring river levels and the coastal situation very closely. Please be aware in case further flood warnings are issued this weekend. Rivers in the upper and mid Tone catchment are currently stable or falling, and below Flood Alert threshold. However, a continuous band of rain is forecast this afternoon. Storm Dennis is due to arrive on the back of it, bringing widespread heavy rain throughout Saturday and into Sunday. Consequently the river levels are forecast to rise again over the weekend. Therefore there is a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads near Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech Saint Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may become bankfull. Our operations teams are checking and clearing bridge openings, culverts and debris screens. Rivers in the upper and mid Tone catchment have risen as a result of heavy rain overnight. The River Tone at Bishops Hull is still rising and has reached flood alert level. It is forecast to peak late morning to early afternoon today, Thursday 13/02/20. There is a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads near Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may become bankfull. Our gangs are checking bridges, culverts and debris screens for blockages. Property flooding is not currently forecast. Further heavy showers are forecast for the rest of this morning, giving way to drier conditions for the rest of today. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible between 22:00 today and midday tomorrow, Friday 27/12/19. Areas most at risk are roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bankfull. River levels in the upper and mid Tone catchment have fallen below Flood Alert level, however the River Tone at Bishops Hull gauge remains close to that level. The ground is saturated and all rivers are very responsive to further rain. A band of rain is forecast this afternoon and evening, Saturday 21/12/19, clearing in the early hours of Sunday. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today, Saturday, 21/12/19, into early Sunday. There is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech Saint Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks may become bankfull. However, river levels on the River Tone at Bishops Hull do remain above the Flood Alert level. Further showers are forecast today 20/12/2019. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible today. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech Saint Michael to Henlade road. River levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible to begin between 6:00 pm Saturday, overnight through to Sunday. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bankfull. Further light rainfall is forecast on Sunday. We expect river levels to rise in response to the rainfall, although response may be limited due to the dry nature of the catchments. We are closely monitoring the situation. Last night's heavy and persistent rainfall has now passed out of the area however river levels continue to respond. Snow-melt has also contributed to this situation. River levels on the River Tone at Greenham, River Tone at Bishops Hull, River Tone at Taunton and the Halsewater Stream at Halsewater are all rising. The level of the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton has peaked and is now falling. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will update this message later today, or sooner if the situation changes significantly.

The rain falling over the Tone catchment today, Tuesday 18/12/2018, is causing rivers to respond and rise. The rain is forecast to continue until about 18:00 this evening. The levels on the River Tone at Greenham, Bishops Hull and Taunton, the Halsewater Stream at Norton Fitzwarren, and the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton are rising. The forecast shows that the Tone at Bishops Hull is likely to reach alert level this evening. Significant impacts are not expected. Catchments are wet, and localised surface flooding of low lying land and roads is possible this afternoon and evening. We have teams checking the rivers and structures in the area, such as any blockage at debris screens, culverts, bridges and sluices. Occasional heavy showers are forecast through tonight and tomorrow, Wednesday 19/12/2018. We will continue to monitor the situation and update this message tomorrow.

The rainfall has generally passed out of the area. Further showers, heavy at times, are possible overnight on Thursday and into Friday morning. The river level on the River Tone at Bishops Hull peaked around 13:00 and will fall below the Flood Alert this Wednesday afternoon. The river levels on the River Tone at Greenham, River Tone at Taunton, Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton and Halsewater Stream at Halsewater have all fallen below levels of concern.

The river level on the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton has reached the Flood Alert criteria and is continuing to rise. River levels on the River Tone at Greenham, River Tone at Bishops Hull, River Tone at Taunton and Halsewater Stream at Halsewater remain low but are now rising.

The heavy and persistent rain seen earlier today has now generally passed out of the area. Light rain is forecast overnight. River levels on the River Tone at Bishops Hull and the Halsewater Stream at Halsewater are currently rising. The level of the River Tone at Taunton is stable at present. The River Tone at Greenham and the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton are both falling.

Showery rainfall, heavy at times will affect the local area throughout this evening, Wednesday 14/03/2018 and into the early hours of tomorrow morning. With the upper Tone catchment already saturated this next spell of rainfall will cause all streams to react. This flood alert is being issued from the Bradford on Tone gauge on the River Tone where peak levels are forecast around 03:00 am tomorrow morning. High river levels and bankfull conditions may be experienced across all north facing Exmoor rivers where flooding may affect low lying land and roads.

A further band of rainfall is forecast to pass through the local area during this afternoon, Tuesday 26/12/2017 and persist through to the late evening or early hours of tomorrow Wednesday 27/12/2017. This rainfall though less heavy than yesterday will maintain the rivers at elevated levels and could result in some further flooding to low lying land and roads. This message will be updated at 10:00 on Wednesday 27/12/2017 unless the forecast situation deteriorates further.

The heavy rainfall during the late afternoon today 25/12/2017, is forecast to continue through to mid-evening. The River Tone catchment is saturated and all river levels are beginning to respond to today’s rainfall. Although the rainfall is due to pass out of the area around 20:00 this evening, river levels on the River Tone at Greenham and Bishops Hull and the Hillfarrance Brook at Milverton are forecast to reach Flood Alert level around this same time and some flooding to low lying land and fields may be expected.

Although the rainfall has generally passed out of the area the level on the Rive Tone at Bishops Hull has reached the Flood Alert level and is forecast to peak in the early hours of Monday morning 11/12/2017. High river levels and bankfull conditions can be expected throughout the catchment.
