The river level on the Congresbury Yeo has risen at the Iwood river gauge as a result of persistent rainfall that fell earlier today. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is now possible and is likely to remain a risk for tonight. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads at Wrington and Iwood. Whilst the river level continues to slowly rise, we do not expect the flooding of properties at this point. No further rainfall is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high until later tonight before receding. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. The river level peaked at the Iwood river gauge around midday on Saturday, however levels remain high this evening. Consequently, the risk of flooding for roads at Wrington and Iwood remains. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high throughout the remainder of Saturday and overnight into Sunday 01/03/2020. Scattered wintry showers will continue to cross the region with strong winds during this evening and on Sunday. We are monitoring the situation closely. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded. This message will be updated on Sunday 01/03/2020.

River levels have risen at the Iwood river gauge as a result of heavy overnight rainfall. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads at Wrington and Iwood. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high throughout Saturday and we are closely monitoring the situation. The forecast is for a largely dry day on Saturday, with scattered wintry showers. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Storm Dennis continues to impact the South West. Strong winds and further rainfall are forecast today, Sunday 16/02/2020, adding to the significant amount of rainfall that has already fallen. Catchments are saturated and all rivers are likely to respond to this rainfall. This may bring a risk of flooding to low lying land across the North Somerset area and in particular roads around Wrington and Iwood. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is not currently forecast at this time. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking flood defences. Incident teams are monitoring river levels very closely. Please stay aware in case further flood warnings are issued this weekend. Storm Dennis has started to impact the South West area and is forecast to bring strong winds and significant rainfall particularly over high ground, including the Mendip Hills, during this weekend. Catchments are saturated and all rivers are expected to respond to the current rainfall. This may bring a risk of flooding to low lying land across the North Somerset area and in particular roads around Wrington and Iwood. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is not currently forecast at this time. Field teams are out clearing debris screens and checking flood defences. River levels in North Somerset have fallen back to normal winter levels. However, a continuous band of rain is forecast this afternoon and evening, Friday, 14/02/20. This will be closely followed by Storm Dennis on Saturday morning, bringing widespread heavy rain through Saturday, into Sunday. Consequently the river levels are forecast to rise again tonight into the early hours of Saturday. This will bring a risk of flooding to low lying land and roads overnight into tomorrow, including roads at Wrington and Iwood, and potential overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir. Our operations teams are checking and clearing bridge openings, culverts and debris screens. And our incident response staff are monitoring the developing situation closely. Further heavy showers are forecast overnight. We expect river levels to remain high in response to the forecast rainfall. River levels have risen at the Iwood river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall today Saturday 02/11/2019. Consequently, flooding of low lying roads and farmland is possible between 21:00 today and into the early hours of Sunday 03/11/2019. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads at Wrington and Iwood. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is forecast. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high with further rain forecast over the coming few days. Our incident response staff have been checking rivers are clear from debris from weed screens and bridges. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. Although river levels have fallen throughout Saturday, the river has now begun to rise again following the rainfall overnight. We expect river levels to continue to rise throughout Sunday 13/10/19. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is forecast. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Further persistent rainfall is forecast over the next 4 to 6 hours. River levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible to begin between 6:00 pm Saturday, overnight through to Sunday. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for roads at Wrington and Iwood. Overtopping of the bank downstream of Mendip Mills Weir is forecast. Further light rainfall is forecast on Sunday. We expect river levels to rise in response to the rainfall, although response may be limited due to the dry nature of the catchments. We are closely monitoring the situation. River levels on the Congresbury Yeo at Iwood at rising in response to today’s rainfall and are now above flood alert criteria. The band of heavy rain has now cleared out of the area, however further light rain is forecast in the early hours of Monday morning. The current forecast does not anticipate we will reach the flood warning criteria. We are monitoring river levels and will update this message when the situation changes.

Following the sustained rainfall over the last 2 days river levels in the North Somerset Area are now responding. The Congresbury Yeo is showing a significant increase and is forecast to peak just above the Flood Alert level around 02:45 tomorrow morning 27/12/2017. Flooding to low lying land and roads may be expected.
