River Chew, Chew Stoke Stream, Winford Brook
Isolated thundery rainfall is forecast this afternoon and into the evening of the 31st May 2018, however the rainfall amount and exact location is uncertain. Localised thunderstorms may cause some surface water flooding where water is not able to drain away. This unsettled weather is expected to continue into Friday. Whilst river levels within the Chew catchment are stable and have not met criteria we are issuing the Flood Alert to raise awareness. This is largely due to the nature of the rainfall and that the Chew catchment can react quickly to intense rainfall. We are constantly monitoring river levels. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings, flood waters may be deep and fast flowing. Please refer to river levels on the internet for current river levels. This message will be updated this evening (31/05/18).

The majority of Sunday will be dry until later on in the afternoon. A band of heavy and persistent rain will move across the area overnight Sunday and into Monday. The most intense rainfall will be between 23:00 and 09:00. River levels are generally stable however, as the rain passes through, this will lead to a rise in all river levels in the area therefore we are issuing all the Flood Alerts for the Bristol Avon area. There is an outside possibility of a couple of flood warnings being issued overnight but due to the uncertainty, we will not know the exact location of these until the rain passes through. We will be carrying out routine checks around the Bristol Avon area to ensure that the additional water will be able to travel through the system as expected. This message will be updated again Monday morning once the latest weather forecasts and models have been run and assessed.
