All times are local and refer to the high water time at Hinkley Point, mAOD is height above average sea level for more detail refer to local tide tables. Flooding is possible at these times, however conditions may apply one hour either side of the high tide. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for coastal areas at Dunster Beaches, Blue Anchor, Steart, Stolford and Brean. We are in a period of high Spring tides. High spring tides combined with a tidal surge and strong winds may lead to overtopping of sea defences. Forecast high water is 21:00 on 12/03/20 with a level of 7.19 mAOD and a Force 7 Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Hinkley and mAOD is height above average sea level. For more details refer to local tide tables. The forecast tide height is predicted to be lower than those reached on Wednesday evening. There remains the risk of flooding to the most vulnerable low-lying seafront properties, roads and land for coastal areas at Dunster Beaches, Blue Anchor, Steart, Stolford and Brean. We have operational gangs on the ground to monitor the tides and any impacts. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads.

Second forecast high water is 08:45 on 12/03/20 with a level of 7.38 mAOD and a Force 5 South Westerly wind. All times are local and refer to the high water time at Hinkley and mAOD is height above average sea level. For more details refer to local tide tables. There is the possibility of flooding for coastal areas at Dunster Beaches, Blue Anchor, Steart, Stolford and Brean including some vulnerable seafront properties. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for coastal areas at Dunster Beaches, Blue Anchor, Steart, Stolford and Brean. Flooding to roads, farmland and properties is possible at these times, however conditions may apply one to two hours either side of the high tide. Coastal conditions are expected to continue until after the high tides at 22:15 on 14/03/20. We are closely monitoring the situation. Spring tides peak this weekend. Gale force winds are forecast for the Somerset coast for both this evening’s and tomorrow morning’s high tides. Sea levels will be higher than forecast in tide tables and large waves are expected. Overtopping and onshore flooding may occur where waves splash up and over seawalls, and where strong winds blow water onshore. The time and date of the forecast high water is 19:20 on Saturday 8th December 2018. The forecast tide level is 5.96 m AOD. The forecast wind strength and direction is Force 7 westerly. Strong winds will also affect Sunday morning’s high tide, however water levels are forecast to be slightly lower and this tide does not currently meet flood alert criteria.
